  1. No. It's really all or nothing. For every person that knows how to test a stick there's 50 people who don't.
  2. ohhh snap! I know a guy who found one and just keeps it in his wallet to impress women. lol....some guys have issues.
  3. not only that but a 250k minimum annual expense on that card it's always funny when somebody haggles over the price of something like tape and pulls out a Black Card.
  4. that link is incredibly humerous to show how dumb some people really are i'm sure I'm on both sides of it as well. from being in the service industry i try my best to be a very gracious and understanding customer. but I'm also just a complete idiot sometimes. the ones where it ends like this is usually me: "wow.....I look like a giant jack-ass right now, don't I?.....have a good day."
  5. sometimes they're assholes when they get here. lol by the way, the breastfeeding lady i had previously mentioned in this thread was back again. i guess her child is still breastfeeding.
  6. I asked Bauer customs dept about that and the rep said that they will not be available for custom until Dec 1. This was a few weeks ago. I have to ask her a few things, but the woman I usually deal with is on vacation, so I'll ask her Monday.
  7. One95s have a stock C width, the x60s will not.
  8. But what makes the company decide which name goes on which pattern? Do they put it on the pattern that's cheapest to make or how does it work? I doubt it all isn't about money, I can't see CCM giving the straighest curve they have and naming it Ovechkin... It must have a correlation to the player that "uses" it. Nope None at all? Not one tiny thing that would be the same? I never knew, sorry for my stupidity. Bauer's PM9 went from Hossa to St. Louis to Malkin. I'm going to bet that the PM9 is nowhere near the curve any of these guys use. If there is a proximity between retail curve and the actual curve that player uses I would bet that it's coincidence. looks nothing like the ovechkin retail we're aware of this.

  10. Take as much time as you need. You're giving them business so you should be able to find what you're looking for. As a LHS employee I don't mind at all in the least to do my job and help the customer find what he's after. It gets annoying when the customer asks for advice and then completely disregards it, constantly mentions online prices, etc. Taking your time to make sure your money is going towards something that makes you happy is normal. Also, just because you're not buying top of the line now doesn't mean your not spending in the future.
  11. this is one of the major reasons I don't give discounts. To the ones I know are our die-hard customers I will. They're in each week buying $100-200 worth of stuff and it's worth it. but the guy who plays there for 3 years and has come in twice to buy a jock strap and a Synergy, but is in every other week complaining that we're charging him $2 to cut the stick he bought from HockeyMonkey (while talking about how much cheaper it was)? Sorry buddy. I'd like to think that with all that money he's saved on buying online he could afford an effin hacksaw.
  12. I need to get me a back-up pair of steel. I'm skating on nitinol blades which uses a different wheel. My players like the FBV, but I can't try it out yet b/c of my blades. farking eye.
  13. It took FOREVER to get the Lube Tube working. changed the dauber a few times. Had to smack it a bunch to get even a drop on the blade. Finish is MUCH better now.
  14. all mine came marked except the 1/2, which was on the machine when I got it. I had a 3/8, 5/8, 100/70, & 90/70. One problem I had initially was that the screw was putting too much pressure on the spinners so when I went to dress it it wouldn't spin. Blackstone was really helpful. I had to clamp down part of the screw to alleviate the pressure from the spring. After a while it worked out. It's taking a bit to get used to the diminished counter space especially with some size 13 Grafs!! Right now I haven't had too much time to get the boys used to the FBV so hopefully this weekend I will be able to talk to some of them and get them trying it out. Good returns on the 1/2, 5/8, and 3/8 so far though.
  15. Native Americans would be Graf 735s, I guess.
  16. Yes this sounds odd....but do we know that it isnt completely true and valid? ;) haha. it could be. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=A...19eda1ce1a8c1d8 That's what came up when I googled "caucasian foot width". I tried "Cambodian foot width" and got nothing. "Asian foot width" gave me a bunch of porn. lol
  17. Heard a good line today. "My daughter is Cambodian and has a wide foot by our Caucasian standards."
  18. Most of the time, the runners are sold individually for around $25-35. The fact that the RR haven't been a big seller might mean some places are trying to get rid of their stock. Considering they will probably throw in the installation and sharpening, $70 for the set isn't that far off the norm. Oh, and you got to see what they look and feel like. Unless this description : satisfies all your consumer needs.
  19. did he know he liked them before he tried them out in the store?
  20. lol we have one guy who pronounces Sher-Wood (SWD) as "swood". I'm also a big fan of Nike rhyming with "bike"
  21. One thing that usually gets them is "I can do this sharpening super quick or I can do it right. Which would you prefer?"
  22. I had a guy last week that was asking me if there was anything I could do to make the his sharpening happen faster and was reaching into his packet for some cash to bump his skates up to th front of the line. I stopped him, my wallet hates me, but I stopped him and told him I couldn't do it. I told him he would be pretty pissed if he was late for his game because I took a few bucks from a guy who was fourth in line. Then there's the perpetual "9:45 guy" (we stop sharpening or stop taking skates :15 before close) who tells us "You guys say the same thing every week!" Well then, you should be well prepared for next week then shouldn't you?
