  1. For the people who bash the Flyers fanbase, just remember, there are these types of people who are Flyers fans. Those a-holes you hear about on the sports blogs don't make up the whole.

Here's a must-share story I witnessed firsthand at the game which demonstrates the true heart of a hockey fan. At the end of the first period, a 32-year-old unemployed iron worker from the Atlantic City Union exited the complimentary seat he was given and was about to enter the concourse area.

Wearing the "Giroux" captain's jersey the fan purchased that very morning in hopes of getting it signed by his favourite player someday was a dead giveaway as to his team loyalty. This hockey fan was about to walk past a mother and her little girl (age 5) when he noticed that the child was wearing a surgical mask over her mouth.

The absence of hair on her little head along with her look was an indication that the child was a cancer patient. The blue collar fan then paused and asked the little girl if she was a Claude Giroux fan? As the child nodded he removed the brand new Giroux jersey, handed it to the little girl and said, "You are an angel and I would like to give this jersey to you."

The little girl beamed with excitement and commented to her mother that the jersey had the new "C" on the front. The good Samaritan Flyers fan simply walked away with a tear in his eye. The name of the fan is being withheld at his request because like most acts of kindness, he did not want to bring attention to himself. I felt the need to bring attention to the act of one terrific hockey fan and human being.

Event such as these demonstrate why hockey fans are the greatest fans in the world and make me so proud to be part of the game. Welcome back hockey fans. You are truly the GREATEST.

First pair of non-Bauer gloves since the original Nike Bauer 4-Rolls. Just got done using em for the first time, gotta say I'm really, really impressed with them. Have to be broken in more, something I had grown used to with Bauer gloves, but shouldn't be an issue at all. Next to come is a Covert DT1...hopefully.

  3. I use a marker and black out / color out the logo on the sock. They are holding up well with a few pin holes and board burns after about a year of use once a week each pair.

That's probably what I'll do to it too...I was hoping it was vinyl or something you could take off, but a marker should do the trick.

  4. Bought a pair of the Tron dry-fit socks and got the $1.99 outdoor wheel/bearing combos...used a 30% off coupon so it came out to about 17 bucks...ordered em on Saturday night, got them today which I was really impressed with. First impressions on the socks are that there's no difference between them and the EDGE socks. Just getting back into the ice scene again so I needed to replace my five/six year old socks, these seem like they'll do the trick just fine.

The wheels seem like they should hold up alright, don't seem any different from any other outdoor wheels I've had before. Will be interesting to see how they hold up over time...for $1.99 I'm not expecting a ton, but that's alright. I'll probably order from them again.

  5. This is the setup I have been running for the past 4 years.

I am switching the Red Star E Frame out for the Labeda Sensor and I will also be trying the Revision Variant Plus Wheels this go around. Right now the E Frames are off the boots, old T-Bolt holes have been epoxied, and mock up of new chassis is in progress. I have to pick up my freshly powder coated Sensor (Yes, I have 2 pairs of Sensors ) chassis this week. I will post pics when I get everything together, it should look pretty hot.

THOSE are four years old?! Don't skate much I take it? They look immaculate, haha

  6. I understand that, and I guess when you purchase the vehicle you might not have cash to lay down that you'll acquire later. At least there hasn't been a picture of 22's on a busted '99 Malibu.

Yeah, like I don't have the amount of money I'd like to do things to my car, but that doesn't mean I won't in the future. And I'm sure if there WAS a picture of a Malibu on 22's they'd be laughed off the forum haha

  7. is this low enough for you EBondo? gotta do a little work with the camber out back, a little roll, and the rear will be coming down more.

    That's beautiful, greech!!! Impressed.

They say not to preface things with "no offense", because it doesn't make the comment any less offensive. So, why not just spend that $15,000 or whatever it may be, and get a nicer car?

In my mind, it's nice to see progress on something you've done or built yourself. It helps you feels accomplished, like you hit a new milestone with every new mod.

  8. I had to share this with a group that gives a crap about this kind of stuff.

I received these bad boys in the mail today. Picked them up brand new with tags off Ebay after scouring all of Alberta for around 2 years for a pair of Super Tacks or Pro Tacks in size 8 C or 8 D.

Turns out the guy had a few display models sitting in a warehouse that were long forgotten. I would have preferred Pro Tacks, but I'm not going to complain!

Never sharpened, never baked, awesome shape.

This is a pretty great day for me. I've got them on my feet right now and they fit exactly the way I remember my Pro Tacks fitting. Finally a skate that fits my foot without any issues.

Yup, that's the original tag with serial number. I have the original box too.

None of my teammates can understand my excitement about these. Even if these don't work out for me for whatever reason, or if I never skate on them in a game, they're going up on a shelf in my office. I grew up in Tacks of one model or another and they were a huge part of hockey for me. Just thought I'd share.

I just cried a little bit. Man I miss the Tacks...
