  1. In gym today, we're playing speedball(a potpourri of sports, played with a felt soccer ball(easy to handle but hurts to get hit with)). This self-proclaimed gridiron great(he is good, but overrated) kicks a ball at my best friend's head. The guy kicking it was halfback, punter, and placekicker on the school's football team. Needless to say, I dive and block the shot because the guy's just being a jerk. He gets mad, and about 5 minutes later starts shoving me and says, oh mr. hockey(i'm one of two kids who plays rec league at our school, nobody else plays ANY organized hockey) what are you gonna do about it? So I check him into some gym mats and recieve a warning for checking. That's fine. I expected that, because he's a "gym class immortal." Two minutes exactly after that, the kid who almost got a ball in the head and I are working together by the bleachers getting the ball away from our zone. Mr. Gridiron comes over and boards me into the bleachers.Iwas wearing a Bill Thomas Penguins shirt and he hit me square in the numbers. He gets nothing and the play continues as I lay there, making sure I'm okay. He gets nothing. No warning, no detention or penalty. My arm's brushburned but the kid's a douche. I keep playing, even after repeated attempts to have me sit down for evaluation. There's a kid in the lifeskills class(Lifeskills is the severely mentally challenged class) who was playing goalie. He kicks the ball as hard as he can at the kid. Again, because I'm a team player, I block the shot because the kid has Down Syndrome and has an IQ of maybe 50. The gym teacher calmly reminded him, Be aware of who's playing goal. He did it twice more before gym was over. Got NOTHING out of it. Jerks like that make me realize how fortunate hockey is in that it is a self-policing sport.
  2. Looking for a first car, and figured I'd ask hockey players for help. I need something that I can transport 4 people comfortably, store 2 hockey bags, 4 sticks, and have 4-6 cylinders due to the drive to the rink(45 minutes one way). Minivans are out of the question because I don't feel like being assaulted daily in school for being "the guy who drives a minivan to school". My current car(which is shared with my parents) is a 2000 cavalier sedan. Think a 1991 Cavalier coupe would work? It's only $750 too!
  3. My ex girlfriend and I have been trying to reconcile for around 2 months. Her father is very overprotective of her, as she's the firstborn. Her mother and grandmother were at her drama production which I happened to go see tonight(Great play, oklahoma!) and During intermission I apologized for the way things ended and invited her to a game.Although we're not permitted to have a comitted relationship, we're allowed to continue seeing each other in an open relationship. Also, I'm creating a group called Checking for Crohn's.v For every goal I score, I will give $10 and for each assist I will give $5 to my girlfriend's family because her brother suffers from the disease.
  4. Became a licensed driver in the state of Pennsylvania yesterday. :) That whole 6 month waiting period is a buncha crap. Also, Apologies to Marcelo Cordoba for mis-spelling his name on the post. It was Cordoba on the test.
  5. Marcelo's Job made me get 3 bonus points on a chemistry test. We were talking about states of matter, and the bonus question was: Name a real world example of Sublimation. Bingo. Answer: Marcelo Cordera, Sublimating lettering to jerseys, www.sublitwill.com. My teacher comes up the next day, Can you really do that? That's pretty cool!
  6. You would. hahah. I hate this snow! 18 total inches in 2 days.
  7. ... Really? I'm trying to get back together with my ex, but I wouldn't touch any of her friends with a ten-meter pole.
  8. Got an extra day to prepare myself for a band festival. Thank you winter storm!
  9. a literal "sweet spot" moment: After finals yesterday, our FCS(home ec) teacher told us to meet in the Foods lab today. We made ice cream!
  10. Judging by his location, I'd be safe to assume that. Daily Vent: It's too warm out. Please drop back into the 20's and be frigid cold so I can get some ice time in, i'm bored out of my mind, and so are my friends/teammates/classmates!
  11. EBondo, the hardest one I've had to endure... A kid in my homeroom died in a car accident with his 2 best friends and his cousin. 3 days after the end of 10th grade. Kid would have easily won best mannered. My group of friends(who, ironically are my pond hockey buddies), a pair of twins, a diehard pens fan, and a history buff are some of the emotionally strongest people i've ever seen, and we were ALL bawling like babies by the time we saw him. His cousin was an emotional wreck. Such a sad story.
  12. Giant Don't: If you get a newer guy who isn't secure on his skates and he gets a breakaway, don't play him full tilt and trip him and send him flying into the net AND the boards after the net. That having been said, I'm the victim in said situation. Could have been ugly, but ended up with a bruised chin, two huge bruises on the kneecaps, and some paint knocked off my face cage. Best part of it was: The kid who did it, completely spoiled out of his mind, doesn't even apologize, and then starts screaming at me for chipping the paint on his X:60 stick on my way to the ice after the trip.
  13. I was at a stick&shoot(stick&puck session) yesterday, brought my gear in a baseball catcher's bag and a garbage bag, as i have no room in the inn. One of the kids I skate with asks me, is Santa gonna bring you a brand new bag? I told him my mom had planned on it, but I don't think he's going to. Santa brought me a brand new Easton Synergy ST Pro bag. Needless to say, I now kinda want to go skate. Also, Santa was feeling generous this year. My christmas consisted of a Sher-Wood 5030(Havlat Left Curve), 3 HUGE Rolls of Tape(1 Black, White, Clear), Bauer X:15's, and my new Synergy Pro bag. Oh, and a Caribbean cruise in Feb. :))
  14. My friend, who we'll call "Bob" to hide his identity, has been acting shady recently. I ask bob what's going on, and he says, We're working on a paranormal activity project at the hospital. In the paper today(from Local Newspaper's Police Log):Three *name withheld*-area teens will soon be facing charges after police say they took a video recording of themselves burglarizing the former *name withheld* Hospital and posted it on the Internet. Police said a 15-year-old from *name withheld*, and 15-and 16- year-olds from *name withheld* broke into the vacant, state-owned building three times between Saturday and Sunday. They stole a few items while inside, police said. To top it off, 2 of his classmates' parents are police officers, and they have advised all of my class to stay away from bob. Also, the current penalty for violating HIPPA laws, and felony breaking and entering, felony trespassing, felony theft, is a hefty stay in Juvenile Detention.
  15. I took my stick and a puck up to the pond today, and it was one of the best ice skating days i've had in a long time. Also, I'm taking my Bauer X:15's out at 6pm EST. Something to do, go skate on brand new skates.
  16. LUCKY! I got to skate on the pondstrosity today. Needs some work, but Sunday/Monday/Tuesday should fix that :)
  17. My neighbor has gotten the permission from the authorities to let him freeze his "pondstrosity" over. It's a swamp that we freeze over to play pond hockey in the winter. In fact, I learned to play hockey there last year. Next up: Getting more people to play.
  18. Umm, the penguins have played it too. I'm going to be disappointed if I hear it at Mellon Arena tonight.
  19. I know how you feel. I'm a drum major for my HS's marching band. I've got to keep my grades passing to demonstrate something called SUDA(Spirit, Unity, Discipline, Attitude). Also, my mom's always been supportive of me trying new things. With my final year of VFW Teener League Baseball, I was encouraged to find a new sport. It just so happened that the team closest to us won the stanley cup in 2009. 400 dollars and some ice time later, I've realized what the game was truely about. Fun.
  20. I hear that one loud and clear Drew. However, I had the opportunity of being selected to County Band, and our guest clinician there grew up on long Island. He explained to us, if the fire of music is in us, pursue music. He didn't have the greatest grades either. Sad enough, I may actually pursue a Music Ed. degree.
  21. Congrats. Glad to see that you had the fire in you to do better, and had a carrot bouncing on the pole you just can't catch. my grades are getting better and I was told today that my scholarship will stand, saving me from imminent death at the ghettoest school in CT, Central High. All is good in academia Why Yes, it certainly is. Congrats man. However my grades are not due to lack of intelligence, rather lack of motivation. I'm a lazy student, and it takes a swift kick in the rear to get me turned around, but if I truly applied myself, look out. I'm one of the brightest students in my grade.
  22. I started the week with a 38 in english, a 68 in history, and a 66 in trig and an 84 in chem. The stipulations my mom placed on me were as follows: you must be passing all classes, however I will still let you go if your 66 in trig stands. Needless to say, wednesday at 1:30 when we were dismissed, I had a 75 in english, a 79 in chem(I botched a test tuesday), and an 85 in history. That having been said: Thanksgiving weekend: Pens/Rangers. Oh yes!
