Stiffening a Shaft

Recommended Posts

Sell or trade it. There is no way. Either that or flip the shaft (so that the graphics are upside-down), it should feel stiffer for about 2-3 icetimes.

I have no idea how soaking in salt water would work w/ a comp. shaft, but for a woodie, perhaps the salt draws the moisture out after the stick dries from the soaking (like how salt will draw moisture out of food).

But then, the stick will just be brittle and snap.

That's my theory anyhow.

You know. I just remembered. A few years ago when I wanted to experiment w/ junior grip lites I wanted the size/shape/weight but the junior flex wasn't right for me.

I thought about taking a flat piece of wood (something light and not too thick) about 1 quarter of the shaft length and putting it inside the shaft like an I beam or the old Koho Corebeam shafts.

I figure if you could find a way to get it secure, maybe have very very snug fit and use some glue it might stay.

But then again, it might get loose and start rattling around or the wood might just plain old snap.

Of course I have not tried this and if it did work, it would add a bit of weight I'm guessing.
