Keith Primeau @ Gear Zone

Last night Primeau was at the gear zone in Bethlehem, PA signing autographs and such promoting his Fury sticks and gloves. I found it terribly interesting that the crowd was no where what they were expecting. Just goes to show that the lockout "is" affecting people's attitudes and behavior towards the NHL and PA in general. An event like this in prior years would have generated tremendous volumes of fans, news events, etc...

Of course....I was there for my son so he could get an autograph and picture. He's wearing the jersey to school today.

Actually, I have noticed lately that all the Skate Zones have been pretty much deserted. The Pennsauken one I know for sure is one that never has any people. You're lucky if you go there and anyone is working! So maybe it's just a thing that all the Skate Zones are having...and it's a shame because they actually have really nice rinks, with the exclusion of the Pennsauken one, that one needs some TLC. But you do have a point. The Lockout has had a major effect on fans everywhere...At some times in Voorhees, you can see Sami Kapenen there numerous times, no one bothers him. I have seen Keith Primeau there numerous times, and no one has really taken it as a big deal....

The Bethlehem Skate Zone isn't doing that well in general. And I'm pretty sure that was before the lockout.

Yeah...the "former" Skatezone isn't doing well at all. They parted ways w/corporate(Comcast) right after christmas. Supposedly corporate never gave them what was promised i.e. players, coaches, and the stuff all of the others can get. It's gone downhill since then. Only Gearzone remains.

I was there half an hour early, and there were only about 30 people in front of us. When we left the line was about the same.

Wow that's sad to hear. The Pennsauken Skate Zone has gone downhill ever since the first or second hockey director left. After that, it all just went down the drain. And I stopped playing there, moved to Voorhees. But now am forced to go back since my Flyers Youth team didn't get enough interest so now I am on Jr. Phantoms. It's sad to hear though because Bethlehem is the newest Skate Zone.

PS. Mods since I have changed my team, and am no longer Flyers Youth, is there anyway I could get my user name changed? Thanks...if not possible, it's fine.

We had a good turnout when he was here. Second one is hard to see but the line went from the rink, into the lobby, then out the door. We had about 1000 people here in about 2 hours.

It seems like our hockey director is having problems too. As if the rink wasn't getting bad enough. The place has too many problems to list. As bad as it's getting I'm missing the old Ice Palace in Allentown.

actually it seems like Voorhees and Northeast Philly are the only ones that aren't having too many problems with their hockey director. With all the troubles Atlantic City, Pennsauken, and now Bethlehem are having, it seems like it's only a matter of time before we're left without a rink

the Flyers are running some adult camp this weekend..but really its I think a Fri night to Sun afternoon thing..with hotel..but its $750...the teams are doing all they can to get some $ back in the pipeline

Primeau used to caoch a Squirt team I believe out ofVoorhees. Haven't seen him around lately, but had Amonte for Spring league the other day as well as Kapanens' kid. People probably won't bother them not because they don't know who they are or forget, but more for not wanting to become an annoyance or rude.

I think most people tend to leave the NHL'ers alone at the rinks, especially when there's kids involved..

Gretz used to sit at Sky Rink/Chelsea Piers and watch his children skate with little to no distraction when he was with NYR>.he'd acoomodate people afterwards as long as they just let him watch his kids..i'd think most are like that..

Yes I used to see Primeau all the time because I played his son for a season. But my friend said that for one game he had to ref...Amonte was the coach of one team, and Bobby Clarke's son played on the other. So there were two there. I remember the last time I saw Kapenen there...he was in the Gear Zone looking at sticks...no one bothered him, but they all knew who he was. He did look a little mad which could be why no one did, but everyone seems to leave him alone
