Forza Motorsports vs. Gran Turismo 4

Recommended Posts

Has anyone gotten Forza Motorsports for Xbox yet? If you have, or those of you that will be, is it better than GT4?? Is is worth $50?

from what i can tell, the car selection in forza is going to be a lot better than GT4, seeing as how they have a McLaren F1 GTR and a Ferrari 333SP Prototype

i'm a gran turismo whore, so i'm pretty bias. but from what i've seen forza looks pretty cool. there are a lot of little things they threw into the game that gt4 lacks. more super cars, car damage, exterior mod junk, and most importantly online play. the online play is what's going to make this game sell. aparently you can create car clubs with other people and challenge other clubs online. that's pretty cool. i'm not too sold on the graphics yet, but i've only seen screen shots. both games are good for different reasons.

GT4 also has the McLaren F1 GTR. GT4 also has some cool older cars such as the gt40 cuda 440 6pack 54 vette and mercedes 300sl. i have yet to play forza so im not sure what they offer but each game will have its pros and cons.

I played my GT4 for a week until I realized it was the same thing over and over again.

That's what they said in a lot of reviews as well, about GT. They said Forza might offer a little more challenge as the AI is a little more difficult when it comes to racing like they'll cut you off and bump you.

although i love the realism aspects of gran turismo, i read somewhere that forza calculates the road conditions, throttle, brake, tire wear, aerodynamics and all that like 200 times a second, while gran turismo only does it ... 30 times a second i think.. of course, i don't see how a person would be able to tell, but i guess forza is a technically superior game in terms of driving dynamics.

FuryOfOne, when the drivers cut you off and stuff, do they take damage? it'd be cheap if the computers were tanks and you get all smashed up.

I heard it got repetitive as well. I heard you had to complete like a 24 hour race or something pointless like that. ;)

From the reviews, you could adjust the level of damage. So I would assume they take damage as well. I haven't played the game but I might check it out over the weekend.

haha, i remember when i had GT2 for playstation, i did this endurance race that took me 1 hour in the morning, i paused it, came back and did one hour at noon, then paused it again and did the last hour in the evening. i got a pretty sweet car as a prize for winning it though

Thats my method for the GT series as well. My ps2 is so hot by the end of the day I could cook my dinner on it. And if GT4 does have a 24 hour race, then I will just have to be satisfied with 99% completion. :o
