Haha, it was Kovalev. I thought it was pretty stealth.

Kovalev is such a fairy. Anyone remember when he took a slash to his back against Quebec? He acted like he got shot. I have the clip when Don Cherry was basically calling him a Euro pussy for that and when he bitched out when he got slashed in the playoffs against Boston in OT. Cherry was comparing him to soccer players as to who where the bigger pussies.

Cherry shut your mouth and listen : Kovalev is maybe the best stickhandler who ever play hockey, even better than your good friend Gretzky.

I don't care if he is a pussy, as a fan I like to see skills and moves, not cross-checking and fighting like Cherry loves.

I second skills over cross-checking BS. I'd watch a Russian Superleague game any day of the week over the typical NHL tilt.

Don't be such a jackass, I realize that your sticking up for your favourite player, but you have to realize that he looks like a soccer player when he takes dives like that, and just as much as you don't want chippy players, we don't want panzee players.

It bothers me the way Cherry idolizes players that have very little business on a roster. It was different when he was younger and skill guys would be tough. But who, other than Cherry, wants to see someone like Peter Worrell have a roster spot in a pro league?

It bothers me when people compare apples and oranges. Like gretz and Kovy. You cant even compare the too, gretz wasnt about flashy moves and diving everywhere. I think he has the greatest vision and hockey sense of any player whoever played. And I know some ppl will agree with me.

I may be agree with you on that. And I don't compare the 2 players, I just compare their stickhandling.

And, I don't defend a player because he's my favorite, I defend players who got skills.

Kovalev's got awesome talent, though he's not the most consistant of guys, for sure.

Thing is that Cherry generally isn't too kind about Europeans, for whatever reason, and it really gets on my nerves. If Kovalev was Canadian, he wouldn't bitch about him so much.....

I am not a Cherry fan, infact I disagree with about .001% of everything he says, but over the last decade or so he has started to open his verbal assaults to include Canadians now. He picks on European for divings, but also expects it to a degree, he gives it twice as hard to Canadians who dive because he expects them to be "tough." Like I said, I don't really agree with him on alot, but he has become alot more impartial (still a long way to go) recently.

I think it's more now he doesn't care what country you come from, if you don't play like his favorite players from the 50s-70s you're a sub-standard hockey player.

While the talent levels are definetely different in the two leagues, it has been said that the Russian Superleague is more defensive than the NHL. Just look at the scoring leaders, the highest scorer averages 1 ppg, and due to the lack of a redline, they play a deep trap and Red Wings lock. Soooooooo boring, they televised lots of games this year on TSN. The only exciting team was Ak Bars Kazan, but they were the NY Rangers of the Superleague.

Personally, CHL > NHL
