hello, I know there have been a lot of topics on ipods, but i want to know more about the zen, so do me a favour by holding back your urges to tell me to search ;)

I have narrowed it down to two choices (in title descriptioin) for anyone who has an ipod mini (a lot of you) or a zen micro, please let me know some pros and cons, so I can make my final decision.

Apple is suppose to come out with new model on July 6... i think you should wait and see if(the rumors it true) how the new one look like!

And i don't know a lot about mp3 players market except for the ipod...but it seems like a lot of new model appear in summer for the beginning of school in september...i migth be wrong too...

I got an iPod Mini for my b-day in May, and its amazing. Sometimes the touch wheel is a little "choppy" when I use it, but besides that it is awesome.

You will not go wrnog with an iPod. The only problem I've ever had with it is the wheel gets stuck a bit when your hands are sweaty.

When it first came out, I thought the iPod was a cool little gadget, when almost no onehad them. Now, when I walk through my school, everybody has a mini one, all different colors. At this point, IMHO, I think the iPod is over-rated and overpriced. But, like cobrAA said, if another one comes out, prices will drop, so if you wait, and then get one, you could start one of those "old school" things, like Converse, Roos, and all-leather Eagles. Just my .02

my friend has a rio carbon ,ive used it on a few occasions ,i liek it waaaay better then the ipod mini ,its much easier to seitch songs and when your in other menus in the ipod mini you cant turn the volume down which is bad when your in class trying to be stealthy with the mp3 player

i agree. EVERYONE has an ipod, so thats why I thought of the zen as something actually different

The iPod has a bad reputation for the battery life. But don't cordless phones, rechargable batteries, cell phone batteries and such have a limited battery life as well? If you do get the iPod, make sure you get an additional 1 year or more warranty or else you'll be stuck with an iPod that doesn't hold a charge in a year to a year and a halfs time. There are also many guides on the internet that you can search that show you step by step instructions on how to change the iPod battery if you have the right tools. If you are looking to use this iPod to work out with, forget about it. Never use hard drive based MP3 players for anything that involves shaking it.

The ipod is very easy to use and has next to no loading times... my old mp3 used to take FOREVER to load anything, and it was freakin huge. You'll save a few bucks on the zen micro, but I think if you get the ipod, you'll have a larger company backing up thier product, and more accessories and support available. You know you can get ANYTHING that will hook up with a pod, but you don't know that about the zen.

The ipod is outdated now. There are smaller mp3 players out there with more features and better functionality. The only thing the apple ipod has going for it is its simplicity.

if your wheel gets a little choppy when scrolling..breath on it like its a window you want to draw on, and that usually fixes it

The Zen series by Creative. Specifically the zen micro. Plus there are tons of 1gb players out there with a quarter of the size. Unless you plan on filling the ipod to the brim there is no point with all that storage. Save the money, get a bit less storage but more features. Whatever floats your boat though.

i think you're wrong in saying the ipod has less features, because really, the ipod has the best feature possible going for it, and that is ease of use. i don't know about you but i find the little mp3 players with 1gb or anything like that really hard to use because their buttons are TINY. the ipod iwth the wheel on the other hand is amazingly easy and convenient. it also has iTunes, which is by far the best jukebox program. other mp3 players might have "special features" but what's the point of these features if you can't find the song you want to listen to?

Yes I agree with you but the zen micro has a great touch system. Anyways I was just stating for the price you pay for an ipod, you can get a different player with a whole lot more features. Also my creative mp3 player comes with software and drag in drop. Drag and drop is the simplist thing you can do.

I absolutely hated the zen micro's touch system. It was the worst thing ever. Any little touch and it scrolled through all the songs right to the bottom numerous times.

if your wheel gets a little choppy when scrolling..breath on it like its a window you want to draw on, and that usually fixes it

The iPod is pretty good for it's price. The Mini here is $250 whereas a similar Phillips 1.5GB HD based mp3 player is already priced at $200.
