Vapor XV Blades

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used these blades? Will they fit in a Easton Synthesis Shaft? The P10 pattern the same as the Easton Shanahan? I used a Tri-Flex Stick with a Gagne pattern. I liked it better than my Synergy because the blade felt stiffer.

I ordered both a Hossa and Lindros patterns from epuck and was disappointed with how heavy they were (165 g and 155 g respectively). for reference, my composite Synthesis Modano was 140 grams, and composite R2 Messier was 129 grams. Even my shaved Sherwood 950's were lighter at around 153 grams. Also, one tenon was loose in my Flyweight shaft, and one was extremely tight in the same shaft. I can't comment on performance, since I never used them (returned). Although the XX is not a heavy stick overall, it is quite blade heavy in that it has a very low balance point.

I found it blade heavy compared to the Xn10. I thought that the balance was over-rated, while being fairly good compared to the Synergy and M-1, but nothing spectacular.

The Sr. retail Lindros XX I had my hands on was more blade heavy (lower balance point) than either the XN10 or the Synergy. Bauer XX, Bauer TFG, and Mission M-1 are all very close as some of the most blade heavy OPS's. what I've noticed in order of blade lightness:

1. XN10

2. Synergy=Sicore Synergy

3. Old Response

4. XX=TFG=M-1

I'm not doubting you, but I have to say I find that strange. Maybe Bauer made some running production changes to their XX blades and they're heavier now? The last time I fiddled around with an XX in the store was at least a couple months ago so there's a remote possibility something had recently changed. I clearly remember the stick I had at the time being the blade-lightsest OPS (balance-wise). I think it might have been a P88 too.

I noticed at my LHS that the Vapor XX OPS is made in two places: Canada and Mexico. The first batches (only had pattern numebrs) were stamped "Made in Canada" and the later batches (with player names and pattern number) were stamped "Made in Mexico." I thought that the ones made in Mexico were better quality and had tackier grip. A few of the ones made in Canada had bad blade jobs (you could see clear spots rather than graphite and the fuse points had small gaps).

duribility wise, we found it the oposite. all the ones we sold stamped from the mexico plant broke pretty quick. while we didnt get any canadian ones.
