06 Goal Gear Release Dates

Recommended Posts

Im interested in buying new gear next year cause Im playing on a new team and the colours are completely different and my current pads are 2 years old and could be replaced. Im just wondering when does 06 goal gear usually come out and would it be worth the half season wait to get custom 06 gear or should i just get 05 gear?

06 missions come out in oct. i think itd be cooler to get the 06 missions because they arre newer and nicer looking than the missions. also, bc the 06 model probably is improved betetr than the 05. i think waiting half a season to get custom 06 missions are worth while.

Im not really interested in Missions for ice, no offence Justin. I love my Velo 1s right now and will probably stick with Vaughn because I have tried Sher-Wood, Heaton, CCM, Rbk(KOHO) and Louisville and Ive liked Vaughn the most so Ill be interested in what they have to offer for 06. JR or anyone who sells goal gear when are you guys allowed to start taking custom orders for next years gear roughly and by any chance would you be able to provide me with any info about next years Vaughn gear if you have access to it cause I assume it must be close to done if Missions is done already. Thanks a lot.

Trucks - those pads are being launched with their roller hockey line. Ice lines are unveiled in January and bookings are taken then with ship dates in April.

You're probably a good ways off yet for 2006 Vaughn gear.

I remember when I ordered my V 1's it was right before they started production of the V 2's. At that time no one had even seen or heard what the difference between the V-1 and V-2 might be. That was in September a couple years back. The Vaughn plant was just tooling up for the V-2's and my V-1's were one of the last sets they produced before the change over. (My LHS wasn't even sure they'd be able to deliver them before the change, delivery was two weeks to three months  ) Even then, it wasn't until the Toronto Hockey show before I saw the V-2's and that was December or January... and they still weren't available for purchase until around the end of February. :o

Anyway, to make a long story short. If there are any changes of substance on the 2006 pads/gloves, you probably won't be able to get your hands on them until early spring 2006.

I'm not a dealer though, so some of the others here might be able to shine more light on this topic. Just thought I'd share my experience. Good luck with your gear purchase. It's always so much fun getting new stuff.... :D

So I guess I would just be better off ordering 05 V2s or Epics now, havent decided yet and I should get them in time for the season or a little into it.

Yeah...05 V-2's would be the way to go.

If you are interested in Epics be sure you try before you buy. They are nothing like the Velo's and coming off Velo pads you would likely have an adjustment period.

Believe me, I made the mistake of trying other pads after my first V-1's. I was so used to the Velo's I would just compare everything to them and immediately hate the new pads. In the end...I bought another pair of Velo 1 pro returns with the mods I wanted....

Again, just my two cents so take it for what it's worth.

Get the V2's, I was given some Vaughn Epics to try and the glove and the leg pads were terrible. The glove is overly big and terribly balanced, and the leg pads are somewhat of a step back depending on your style of play ( they are designed NOT to rotate on your leg making them basically a stand up pad.) The only good part of the epic line is the pants and the blocker is DECENT, not good not terrible. The V2 leg pads glove and blocker are great I would reccommend all of them. I came from the V1's as well and the V2's really are a step above.

depends when your season is cause vaughn plant i know shuts down for a week or 2 in the summer like every plant pretty much. time frame for vaughn is around 14 weeks depending where you go and the stores buying power

When ordered my V1s it was in early August and surprisingly they were ready by mid-September which was perfect for me as it gave me just enough tim to get them worked in for the season. Hopefully happens again.

Yup, here it is July and still waiting for Apr 1 ship date. Just got update, mid-Oct.

I think I'm just going to sell tape and laces next year. ;)

The only other thing I might suggest if you want to break into a flat faced pad would be the Brian's demon or DX2's. I have had 2 sets of velo1's and i have used both the demons and the DX2's. They feel really good, the only hard part to get over is that the toe box on them is pretty large. Thats why I got rid of both sets when the rep showed up at the shop with a pair of Steve Shields pro returns from when he played with the Bruins. The colors really don't match many teams, but they are 38" and the toe box isn't as square, it has a really nice taper. Amazing pads. But comparing pads to the velo's, there really aren't many that even come close. I have tried blockades, gatekeepers, koho 580's and 590's, and soon the RBK's. I wasn't impressed with the pads, and I'm not sure what I'm going to find out about the RBK's. I don't know how good they'll be cause its basically a flat faced 590 with a couple different features. I guess I'll just have to just take them for a test spin. Those are my 2cents.

I wont get my V2's till end of November if I ordered them TODAY!

That's not too bad. I had a customer that said it would be 26 weeks on the custom Vaughn pads they ordered for their kid.

When I ordered my pads in early August two years ago I was told theyd be ready in early December but I had them before the end of the month. They just tell you the worst possible solution so you dont get mad if it goes over.

to be fair mission goal stuff is horrible

Having used Mission goal stuff in the past, I really don't think that is a fair statement. Their products have improved SIGNIFICANTLY in each of the past two seasons and it looks like 2006 will be yet another significant leap forward.

For the record. I owned a 2004 set and a 2005 set of Mission Motion gear. I did use both on ice but would not recommend it only because of the nylon inner leg prevents easy movement while in the butterfly and the blocker was a little flimsy. The 2006 stuff has the jenpro inner leg which would make it ideal for ice usage and the Mission trappers have always been game ready right off the shelf.

If you want to know anything more about my experience with their gear just ask, I'd be happy to answer.
