Besides being stiffer and not having the perforated steel, are there any other differences between so called pro stock Vapor XXX's and retail one's?

I'm not talking custom or anything of the sort. I am able to get a brand new pair not made for anyone in particular of Pro Stock Vapor XXX's and was wondering if there were any differences.

A true custom made pro stock Vapor can either be made the same as the retail boot or customized. How is that you say? Well, just last month I was in Ste. Jerome at the BNH factory. The retail stock Vapor XXX is made with all the same processes as a "Pro Stock" Vapor XXX skate. The difference is when the player requests specific customization to the boot- examples- a different tongue(felt), a specific spread across the laces measured in inches(yes, that is a custom option), a perf LS or a solid LS(you can specify), a stiffer boot(retail Vapor XXX is # 2 stiffness, I picked up a pair of Vapor XXX # 4 stiffness for a Euro player-so stiff you could not squeeze it), # of eyelets on the boot, different inner liner(clarino, color option), and of course a custom fit based on your foot tracing sent with the custom order. This is a short list of the items that can be customized when a Vapor XXX is "custom ordered."

Customs come directly from Canada. Retails are made in China.

I have all sorts of custom options on mine.

The best one is having the lace spread across the tongue. Mine is much lower. Really sucks your foot into the skate.

Drum guy? ?? I was on a factory tour with First Line Dealers from US. The tour was interesting to watch all the things that go on inside the building. Martin St. Louis was there during our visit. He was just a regular guy hanging around the custom skate shop.

well when i went with a couple guys from work, they had us do this drum beat thing so we followed the tune as one. then we played this game against the big guys from BNH and my guy from work nailed the one goalie in the head pretty hard

how do you get your skates made for your feet do you have to call email..?

You have to have your LHS call your local rep and come in.Its costs alot of extra money though.

Any knowledgeable LHS would be able to properly do a custom skate order for you. You would probably wait weeks for your BNH rep to show up to do a custom fitting!

The LHS dealer would trace your foot, show you the custom options available, and then forward the order to BNH Custom skate department. There is an upcharge above the regular retail price to have a custom skate made. With NHL players coming back, I'll bet the wait went from 3 weeks delivery to 6 weeks delivery. Don't forget minor leagues and D-1 colleges starting up, too.
