Yah more so of a kovalchuk than a kovy. He hardly gets any recognition. For all the talent he has.

from what i've seen of him, he seems like a faster datsyuk that shoots more. the kid has great hands and sees the ice very well. i think he'll become more of a playmaker than anything.

Zherdev is number #18 or something on Columbus, right? He has some nice moves.

Saw Crosby play the other day in Moncton, awsome skater for his age, soft hands, great vision of the play, always well positioned but not the best shot though, for a 16 year old I was impressed but he was always talking to the ref when someone just hooked him a bit and threw him of balance he will have to get used to that. He also shoots from every angle and crashes the net often he isn't scared to be in the middle of the slot and getting shot at from his D to get a rebound.

He's 13, Also, Ovechkin is supposed to be Zherdev with more grit. These Russians are scary.

More everything. This guy is the real deal and Crosby and him could be the 2 next "great" ones we have.

From what I've heard from scouts, Ovechkin would be the number one pick if he and Crosby both came out at the same time.

I live in Quebec so I see a lot of Crosby this year. Good player but he will not be the next great one in the NHL. Guys like Datsyuk or Zherdev have way more skills than him. I know he's young but I'm sure he will not be the next great one.

It's not all just skill that makes a player great. Crosby is more of an all-around player than a stickhandler. He crashes the net, digs for pucks in the corners, can win faceoffs and the list goes on.

At least, you understand well my reply. I find that Crosby is not that good in finess departement. I know he is a complete player and he can do everything but for his size I don't thing he has enough finess to be a superstar in the NHL level (top 3 in the league).

If that is true, that is a Great thing.

I see players with too much BS passing and didsy doodle stick handeling and they end up hurting their team more then helping w/ that aspect. Hopefully Crosby keeps things simple, yet effective.

I heard the guy was a great stick handler as well. I think he is covered, but my man Ovechkin will still be tops in the era.

Yeah Crosby is a good stickhandler but i don't think that his stickhandling ability could be compare to Datsyuk or Zherdev. It was just my point.

You really shouldn't be comparing a kid that's still more than a year from being drafted to the top players in the league, it's really not fair to him. If you look at the top ten guys in points this season, only Kovalchuk is a real dangler. Of course Sakic and St Louis can stickhandle but they make their living with their legs and shot much more than dekes. Koivalshuck has great hands but usually simpler is better for him too. It's justnice to have the ability to smoke a guy one on one if you have to.

Crosby looks like a pure power forward to me he is very strong on his skates and finishes his checks very well and scores a damn load of points to boot.

Zherdev is a real nice kid. I've talked to him a couple times off ice, though he's still *just* learning english. He eats about every day at the Max&Erma's right by my office.

I told him his puck movement reminded me of Datsyuk and he said (through a translator) that it was "too much of a compliment" and got embarrased. good stuff..

i like modesty in nhl players. Also, Bertuzzi, Lindros, Thornton, and Nolan are a few that come to mind that are stars (or were) that play a power game. Kovy-Ribs needs to recognize hockey is not all about the pussy snipers.

Hey,

Can you ask Zherdev what he does as a kid to have puckhandling skills like he got. It's nice for you to have the chance to talk to a player like Zherdev.

I wouldn't want to approach him out of respect for his personal time. I gave him my .02 and that's it... If he strikes up a convo with me (if his english is better next year) I'll ask him... ;) But it's break right now and I'm not sure where he is, haven't seen him in a while...
