Vapor XXX Blisters

Recommended Posts

Anyone alse get blisters on the inside of each of their ankles when breaking in XXX's ? I didn't have this problem on my XX's and it's frustrating. I'm thinking it's the liner difference between (XXX's have a smoother texture).

You may find that it's touch and go when it comes to breaking in new skates, in terms of blisters.. Have you had them baked ? If not i would say that would be your problem.. I've found over the years that some skates depending on there stiffness and liner may cause blisters and take a few weeks to work in..

Yeah had them baked. It probably is the stiffness, too. The liner on the XX's was more like a grip texture felt that probably has less than friction than the XXX liner.

Well, just a matter of having a few solid skates in em..

I've had my xxx's since early may and they are still tearing up the backs of my heels. They definately fit me so that isn't the issue. I'm just not a fan of the clarino liner. Its too slippery.

the skate might be too wide for your foot, so your heels not fully locked in place. this will cause it to move up n down slightly giving ya the blisters. either that, or the boots just really stiff.

Well, I had no problems like this with my XX's. And Vapor's are fairly narrow (my foot is kind of narrow but not much). I think it's a combination of stiffness and that clarino liner.

first 5-6 times i skated in my F12s i got pretty bad blisters...it stopped though, so it may be the liner of the skate...though i didn't get blisters when breaking in my 8090s.

I've noticed with the new clarino materials that if you wear socks your foot can slip slightly around the ankle bones and create a hot spot or blister. I guess it has a little to do with the material being smooth and moisture fighting or whatever. I find that not wearing socks cuts down on some of the rubbing and improved comfort a bit, skin on clarino grips a little better. Give that a try and see if it helps.

I wear the underarmour socks--same pair as when I had the XX's as now but with the XXX's I have gotten blisters. I have worn them 3-4 times in games so maybe a few more skates they will get better.

i found wearing two layers of socks removed blisters as well, not to mention speed up break-ins.

try wearing a pair of super thing socks or steal a pair of knee highs from ur moms closet. I know a few guys who do that cause of the super thing material for the guys who cant stand going barefoot

Yeah I don't know what the deal is, every company pretty much except for Graf is switching to it, but at least ccm's and rbk's is pretty thick so your heel locks down. I found it that the liner in the XX's was much better.

toss some vaseline in those puppies on top of your foot or sock, helps break them in. apparently XXX's are super stiff at first, but they break in like butter after about a month. similar to graf, but not as good.
