I suggest calling DHL in the U.S. and asking them if they charge a standard brokerage fee. That's what makes UPS so expensive - they charge a big extra brokerage fee for getting the stuff over (like $30+ or something) which USPS / Canada Post doesn't charge (I think Cda Post charges a minimal handling fee). Either way, you will have to pay Cdn taxes (PST+GST) COD upon delivery. And 1800 should be able to tell you how much they're billing you for the base shipping.

DHL has been the worst shipping company I've dealt with since RPS..

I would say they lost or misrouted 3-5% of our packages this year...and just flat out lost, couldn't track thousands of dollars of inventory

Shipping to Canada is only an extra $10 bucks i think. Me and a friend (A_steeves12) were down there in the summer and bought some skates and sticks from them and asked about shipping to Canada for further reference.

About the DHL, never heard of em.

DHL has come back in a big way - trying to be a cheaper alternative to UPS/FedEx.

When you say coming back, how recently are you referring to? I stopped looking up rates on their website last fall, because I consistently found UPS and Fed Ex cheaper -- at least on ground shipments.

However, do you think DHL has lowered its rates in the last six months or so?

I mean from years ago - DHL disappeared for a few years.

THey've been coming out with a lot of ads (I think they started during the Super Bowl)

I dunno - my mom paid $20 for a 20 lb box and it showed up here overnight.

I believe that DHL bought airborne express. I've seen at least one DHL truck for every UPS truck since June, so they must be doing something right.

Yes, they did buy Airborne. I worked for a cargo airline for 3 yrs in Miami.

I don't think they have bought the naming rights but their logos are all over the place at Dolphins Stadium (formerly Joe Robbie Stadium/Pro Player Stadium)

If you want something from Perani's you're best to try calling their Canadian locations (London or Windsor) first to see if they have what you want in stock - this will save you time and $$$ on shipping. I bought a couple of pro return sticks from them and they were very helpful and delivered quickly to Toronto. FYI, I think they have Franklin 850 shafts there for cheap (like $50).

On topic, I just called 1800 to order two blades shipped to Toronto They quoted me US$35 on shipping from DHL. They'd better get it to me last week and guarantee a goal a game for that price. No thanks.

Cobraa, everytime(about 7-8 times) I ordered something from 1800faceoff, they shipped their stuff with USPS. and I live in the same province than you so I think it will be USPS too. The only way it can't be USPS is if they have change of company recently(a month ago was my last purchase with them I think)
