cinastix 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 In the past, I have tried to put in contacts, but I have been unsuccessful in getting them in and out myself. Can anyone who has contacts give me some advice getting them in eye...? Certain techniquesThanks in Advance
Kobe 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 What problem are you having? Is it just discomfort or is the lens not staying on your eye? If it's the first then you'll be fine after a while. It took me a couple of days to get comfortable with them. If you can't even get them in then try wetting your hands and "sliding" them in, starting from the bottom of your eye. Fire0nIce228 1 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Put contact on pointer finger of hand same side of the eye your putting it in. Pull down with your middle finger the bottom skin under your eye. Stick the contact on your eye towards the bottom and slide upwards then let the skin slide upwards and close your eye. Thats what I do. Much luck
Dan_The_Man_16 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Don't push them hard, just sort of let them stick on, be gental. Take your time too, dont rush, and also make sure they don't touch your eyelid, and make sure you are holding them the right way!
Flo Hockey 7 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 I always look up towards the space between my eye-brows and then slide them in quickly near the bottom of my eye.
Fire0nIce228 1 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 I also forgot to add, I put alittle contact solution on my finger before I do it, seems to make it attach to the eye better and not stick or feel bad when you close eyelid.
bulletproof_funk 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 I had problems at first when I got contacts last year. My optometrist gave me a few tips:-use a mirror at first-use dominant hand's middle finger to hold bottom eyelid open-use opposite hand to hold top eyelid open-use the same hand/ index finger for both left and right eyes, applying and removing-do it quickly (efficiently), but don't rush-once the lens is on the eye, look down, release bottom eyelid. this supposedly reduces the lens from coming out on your first blink right after-don't let your lenses dry out. wet them with solution if you've been trying unsuccessfully for 2 min. or moreI find you have to find the "optimum" spot on your finger to place your contact so it's easiest to put in your eye. For me, it's right on the fingertip before the finger nail.As for removing, force your eyes open like you would applying. Lightly "pinch" your index finger and thumb together to grab the contact off your eye.
cinastix 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Thanks for the help guys I will be getting a contact appointment in the next week. For those who do not know I have to get them on in the eye store, before I can purchase them (Canadian Law).
Smith 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 It will be hard at first but do not give up. It was really hard for me at first. Fat fingers and small eyes. After a while it will ge better. And you will never go back to glasses. Now if only my insurance would cover the surgery......

Much luckThat is exactly what I do, when doing this look as far up as you can, so you are touching the whites of your eyes, and when it's in, before blinking, roll your eyes around to make sure it's fixed on. fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted January 17, 2007 usually when i get the contact on, there may be an air bubble in the middle... but i spoke to the guy at the spec shop, and he told me to look around before you let go of your eyelids. roll your eyes around a little, and that should centralise the contact a little more and get rid of the bubble...works for me! CHIEF22 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2007 do you guys know the price range? my binoculars  just broke playing street hockey and im thinking of getting contacts$20 a box or so, depends on the brand. try looking around 1800contacts.com and check out the prices.I have found that my eye doc is cheaper than 1800contacts, and I have to use torics because of astigmatism. I'm paying $35/box. Either way I have to order them, the web site doesn't stock them and neither does mt eye doc.As far as putting them in, I use my right(dominant) hand index finger, pull the bottom lid down with th middle finger, pull the upper lid up with index of middle finger of left hand and place contact on eye. I blink my eye a few times to seat the contact and get the air out. Sometimes I have to remove it and squirt more solution on because it feels like there is something on the contact.Stick with it, I love my contacts.
NuggyBuggy 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2007 As for removing, force your eyes open like you would applying. Lightly "pinch" your index finger and thumb together to grab the contact off your eye. This is how I remove my contacts, but my optometrist once told me years ago that it is (her words) "very dangerous". I can't remember why exactly, but I think it had something to do with pressure on the eyeball and perhaps the risk that you could slip. She recommended a funny way of removing them that involved (I think) doing something with one eyelid, looking up, and blinking, but I could never do it. I've also heard of looking up, then slide the lens to the outside edge of your eye...when it starts to roll up...then pinch it and remove....
RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 bumping the old contacts thread with a new question. It has gone away now...but will using the same contacts tomorrow put the same infection (or whatever) back into my eye. The contacts have been sitting in fresh solution since I took them out.thoughts?
