NuggyBuggy 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 I tried on two girdles at an LHS. One was a size medium Mission, I think it was a D2, the other was a size small Mission, but a different model. I don't know the model number of the latter because there were no tags on it, but it was blue and black, and there was perforated mesh in between the pads. To my layman's eyes, it looked like a higher end pad than the D2, but I don't see anything like them online.I felt the size M D2 was a little big, there was a lot of space between my thighs and the pads, and the waist area felt too big, even with the belt cinched tight. But the small sized pants felt tight, had to squeeze to get into it even with the buckle undone, felt sort of like bike shorts. They felt a little restrictive. I need help here - how is a girdle supposed to fit ? Are they supposed to be snug, or looser fitting? I thought the small size was supposed to fit waists 28-30, I am a 30 waist, but the size difference between S and M just seemed huge. Also, they had a single pair of roller pants there. These were Missions too, pretty much plain black with reinforcement in the knees only and maybe a discrete logo on the side, can't remember, but they weren't as flashy as some roller pants I've seen online. But these pants had no holes for ventilation. Is it important to have ventilation in a roller pant ? I'll probably be playing outside in the summer, just hacking around by myself for now.thanks guys. DeI 18 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 I'm pretty sure I have a medium D2 girdle, 32 waist, and it fits fine. As long as you can tighten the belt to a good fit it should be OK, but this is coming from an ice player who just started picking up roller again.

I'm in the same boat as guitarlp, I wear my D2s like ice pants, so they're a little bit loose around the thigh. My quick-2-second-to-think-up theory is that the baggyness cushins the puck/ball/stick if it hits me.
Jackymc 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 I wear my medium D-1 girdle fairly loose as well.. I'm a 30 waist as well. I've never had a problem with it. It seemed more comfy
althoma1 574 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Here's a page on girdle sizing: http://www.inlinewarehouse.com/custservice...y/rhgirdle.htmlAs far as pants are concerned ventalation is important as it gets hot playing roller hockey in the summer. You also want a pant that provides good mobility and also has adequate material around the knees and other areas that will need to stand up to a lot of abuse. The flashy pants aren't necessary, but most of the better pants are somewhat flashy. My advice would be to pick up a top of the line pant from last year or even a few years ago on clearance either online or in a store - a pant that normally sold for over $100 you can probably get on clearance for $40-$60. They'll be better than the lower end current model pants sold at the same price and cheaper than the current model top end pants.
skaog 1 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 I just got a Froce breakaway Girdle and it is pretty sweet, I got a medium and it fits me perfect, nice and snug everywhere with a little extra space on the legs, very light padding and really not bulky at all. Does not feel anything like ice pants, which is how I like it.

All Torhs Team 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2005 this will not help at all but just a suggestion, Try not playing with a girdle. Girdles are only needed for beginner players. I stopped using a girdle a year and a half ago. and at the time..at the switch....i was much faster because my thighs were able to move without as much restrictoin. Plus...like i said above...only beginners need girdles FOR INLINE....if you fall...witch you shouldn't much at all...it does not hurt. I've not taken a hard fall yet since the girdle switch....and its totally worth it.....your game is so much better when ur a little faster. ....yes...i know that if i fall on my tailbone....yada yada...but you shouldnt be falling much so...but im a 36 waist and 15 years old....so i have alot of cushion.... what ever you choose....id say get it smaller....and rip the part where the cup goes so you can actually move your thighs back and forth....but yet still have padding there. You never get hookedFor those who don't like the feeling of a traditional roller hockey girdle, we have the new Thorax girdle coming out. The thing is amazing...It fits tight to your body, but fells like there is nothing on...I hate girdles, but have fell in love with this. It is light, flexible, and has the right amount of protection. All Torhs Team 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2005 so you guys want to have an online fight about what hurts ?!?!?! but any how....all im saying is that it increases your spead....sure....it hurts a little when you get a bruise from a puck...but that bruise is worth the extra speed. falling....well i havent fallen since i was like 12 so...i think its worth no girdle....do what you think is the best idea....but im stickin to mine. shute 4 Report post Posted September 12, 2005 does this thorax girdle have any plastic inserts or is it just foam? I for one don't wear a girdle for roller hockey cause like all torhs team said it just gives you that extra step and it's also much cooler playing without one. i do however use one for ice hockey and wear roller hockey pants for ice as well. my falls in roller hockey hasn't been very bad but during ice i'm just scared that if i fall i might slide into the boards hard. i also have a lot more control in roller hockey so i almost never fall even in traffic. but playing D does scare me when people take shots in front of me so i wouldn't mind taking a good look at this thorax for my roller and to also lighten my ice hockey gear as well. Shorthanded67 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2005 ...well i havent fallen since i was like 12 so... Well what was that, like 6 months ago? I'm a roller guy too and I'm not going to knock the lack of physical nature of roller hockey versus ice hockey (obviously ice is more physical hands down.) But I have played with and against some of the best players in the U.S. (Yoders, Beilsten, Lindenwood U, Szabo,...among others) and they wear or have worn girdles or some type of padding. Not many players fall out on the open floor but in hockey you're not always going to have open floor with 30 ft of open space around you. Hooks, holds, etc happen, especially when your talent shines above the rest. And at some point you will fall hard because of somebody else and it will hurt like hell.
