profiling skates

Recommended Posts

I went to a coaching seminar and they spoke about getting skates sharpened & profiled. I know there have been several posts on this in the past. I have been able to find some of them. I still have have some questions. I have never had my skates profiled and am considering having it. done. How do you know what radius to get them done at? Is it dependent on what type of skater you are? Can the pitch of of blade be adjusted so that one is leaning slightly more forward. I have Bauer XX now. I use to have Graf 705. I loved the pitch of the Graf, but the boot bruised the ankle bone on the sides so I switched to the Vapors and had no problems. Thanks for any help.

Having them pitched forward can easily be done. If you truely want them to feel like your Grafs, having them profiled to 11ft will match them to your old 705s.

Yes it it totally dependent on what type skater you are. Also what size skate. Find a competent shop, not just one that does 9 &11'. Hopefully they will evaluate you and work with you to fing a radius that works perfect for you and the type skate you have.
