freq019 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2005 When I got married our insurance became what I was paying minus $50. so see if you can swing that ;) J/k You all should try to get a crotch rocket insured before you turn 21, that's expensive if they will even give you a policy. tokes 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Im 19 and I pay for $160 a month for basic coverage on my 03 Eclipse I do have 1 speeding ticket, but it still sucks. Try Progressive.com, I was getting higher rates from other places like AAA, State Farm etc. but Progressive was the cheapest out of all of them.I looked up some quotes on progressive for the next car I'm trying to get, a 3000GT VR4, and they want like $220 a month for basic coverage! Looks like I'll be putting it under my parents name. You're complaining about 160 a month? My brother got his truck insured when he was still 19, 290 a month for PLPD on a 1992 ranger. That's personal liability, property damage. No theft, no fire.A bunch of my friends do the same thing you do JR. A buddy of mine just bought a 2003 Cobra, he has a cabin in Saskatchewan so he has Sask plates on it. Saskatchewan is still gov't run insurance, so he's like 800 bucks every 6 months for complete coverage. There was only one place locally that would pick him up, and they were talking close to 800 a month for complete coverage with a $1000 deductable.
Fedorov91 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Yea, all things considered 160 a month isnt too bad, but when I still had my Detroit address they wanted like 400 a month just for PLPD...Insurance =

JR Boucicaut 3802 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 I'm paying $115 a month for full cover on my SUV. It would have been $300 in MI, and that was cheap.
RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted August 8, 2008 bumpin' an oldie here. So, someone broke into my truck and stole my golf clubs tonight while I was at the Ticats Game...The cover was locked....he/she/they...pried it open. Wrecked the lock mechanism...the rest of the cover looks to be intact. Now...I don't know if the tonneau cover (Fold-A-Cover) can be repaired or if it needs to be replaced...gotta call about that tomorrow. They cost about $1100. My comprehensive deductible is $300.00, so I assume that means I can get the cover replaced for $300. But, I never told the insurance company that I had the cover...I don't even know if they will cover it...gotta make that call tomorrow too.As far as the clubs go...they'd be covered under my apartment insurance (My truck/apt are with different companies until it expires in Dec.). But I think the deductible on that policy is $500.00 they aren't even worth that much. I know I can replace them from a local used sports place for less than $200.00.Just wondering if anyone has any advice or experience to share.Karmas a bitch...I hope the fucker that stole them gets what he deserves. prenny207 1 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 Well after having gone to the insurance company, I've learned that being a 17 year old boy looking for his first car so he doesnt have to keep using his parents, absolutely sucks. It costs me so much more damn money than if I was a girl. This is totally unfair. I question them about it, they give some BS about statistics with boys. WTF, how can they punish me like that for something I haven't done yet? Its a disgrace. Honestly, raise my rate high if I do get in an accident or something, but just because some random statistic says something doesn't mean its going to happen. I was planning on buying my dad's friend 1993 Cadillac 4-Door Deville (in new condition, 100 000KM) for under $5000, then I found out the insurance is like $5300 a year for me, under my own name. I don't want to put it under my parents because IF (knock on wood) something were to happen, I don't want to raise their rates on them. Yeah, so that was my ranting/venting about how now I can't get the car I had my heart set-on because I can't afford the insurance. I need something under $4000 a year, then I could afford it.you need to avoid vehicles that had a High Original Price. insurance is based on Age, Record, Original Value of the Vehicle, and Repair cost of the vehicle. if you look at caddy's, lincolns, and other luxury cars, you're going to pay more for insurance. Just the way it is!!!
