Hey guys, my dad doesn't want me using creatine

Just curious, but why?

Because i guess he thinks I'll just bulk up as I grow and excersise, and doesn't really want me to take anything. Espescially something that can potentially mess you up if not used properly.

not to mention i dont think the creatine i bought from GNC when i was in 12th grade and busted my nuts in the gym and followed a strict diet didnt make me look like the guy on the jar, it helped a little, but i think when people hear creatine they almost think legal roids, not the case lol, over hyped

What is going out there at the States? Creatine is very well researched supplement, and it is a safe one. I can't think any disadvantages but the bloat (creatine draws water to muscle cells and some outside the cells as well). This is invidual, if you don't like monohydrate try creatine ethyl ester.

Are you afraid of your creatine containing steroids etc. ? At least here in Finland, supplements are supervised regularly and they are proved pure. So I can say if you buy creatine monohydrate, you get 100% pure creatine monohydrate.

People typically get half of creatine intake from food (meat, fish). Some studies suggest it can be used in treatment of muscular diseases. I have used creatine for several years with zero problems, and so have my friends. After all, creatine is definitely the no. 2 legal supplement after protein.

Creatine will not mess you up.  Some people who have problems, happen to use creatine, however the two do not go together. There is no possible way that creatine alone will cause you to over develope muscles, those drugs are called steroids. Creatine will help you, and once you take it right you wont want to stop, however it isn't going to put you in the hospital by any means.  That being said, if you are young, (under 18?) theres no need for it. If your body is still growing, i wouldn't want to put any thing un-natural into it other then a good protien shake and some flintstone vitamins :D

Not necisarily. You put the liver under a lot of stress, and if someone exceeds the amounts that they put on the tub, they can really develop problems. That being said, the "loading phase" the creatine companies recomend isn't such a good idea either. I don't use creatine, and I doubt it will have any redeming factors for a hockey player.

90% of the supplements on the market do NOTHING.

You might want to look into getting a good multi though, giving yourself a strong base for your body to work with will pay dividends eventually. So make sure you eat enough calories, and eat healthy.

I've tried Optimum Nutrition's whey, it isn't bad... but I like american whey better. (www.americanwhey.com)

DO NOT use creatine.

I have competed nationally and internationally and was supposed to go on creatine. The one girl who did go on creatine now has liver and kidney damage as also spends 6 hours a week in physio trying to shift her muscles that got over developped.

DO NOT use creatine!

I dont not take Creatine but i know quite a few guys that do and they told me that you have to drink X amount of water when taking creatine or it will screw up your kidneys, maybe your friend just didnt drink enough.
