well, i was triyng to remeber something from past 1988 when i was in doublin... maybe i was too young (but not that much, simply interested in something else :P ), but in any case, as Sven and Sid tould you, the ginness factory is a must see. i can add the Trinity College, the post office in o'connell street and the bridge at the end of the street where it splits in two...

sorry if i can't help you more, but really it has benn soo long time ago and memory it's already nearly gone...

I've heard the waterford factory tour is pretty cool, haven't seen it myself but two different people told me its worth seeing. My sister was just in dublin, she says its amazing how many non-irish are there, kind of like New York in that regard. Also being a girl she never had to buy beer at any pub she went to, so even if you are poor you are still female so you can drink cheap ;)

kristin, i was there a few years ago, and did the guiness tour. great tour. the bar visit at the end is really the best part (and not only for the beer). we tried to do a tour of the old prison (i believe its the prison), but it was sold out for the day. from what i understand, that is the location that many irish were murdered. not sure of the history and all, as the trip was 3 years ago, and i did drink way too much guiness, bailey's, and irish coffee's. but ask around, and check it out if you get a chance. i guess it is a very serious tour, and means a great deal to the irish people. other then that... try to get out of dublin and see the countryside... thats the part thats the most enjoyable. dublin is the foreign chicago, or nyc. see the outskirts, and travel around as much as possible.

have a great trip.

Well since this is my old stomping ground, I thought Id chime in on this one...Dublin is my second favorite city in the world, next to my home town of Glasgow. As stated above, Dublin has any kind of scene you are looking for, but since most tourist going to Ireland are looking for that "authentic" irish feel (be careful here, you don't want to get caught up in the touristy stuff, its bogus), I would suggest a couple of places...first is the Brazen Head Pub, its the oldest pub in the city and it is a lot of fun, with traditional session style music and a good jar. Also, the Temple Bar district in Dublin, there is lots of fun to be had here, very hip and trendy, yet you can still find that irish tradition at places like...the Temple Bar Pub of course! If there is a game on, head over to Lansdowne Stadium for a fitba match, last time I was there I saw Celtic (the Bhoys!), PSV Eindhoven, Londonderry, and Newcastle United, I took the train with the Celtic supporters and had a blast, it was rockin! As stated above, the Guinness brewery is a treat to visit, but make sure you try Beamish (from Cork) its like Guinness, only creamier, my personal fave. If you like a lager, Tennants off the tap is the ticket, Tennants Velvet if you can find it, and Belhaven is another notable. Lets see, try to get out of Dublin if you can, head to Cork and Killarney (down south), the Ring of Dingle and Kerry, up North it is beautiful...The Giants Causeway is a beautiful seaside attraction, and Belfast is another great city, home of the Belfast Giants hockey team (I used to live in Lisburn just outside of Belfast). If you are up North you can always hop on the the ferry from Larne to Stranraer and be in Scotland in no time, where you could see Loch Ness, Glasgow, Edinburgh...the possiblities are endless. If you are particularly into the trad music scene, Sligo is the ticket...ask around and you will find out where the sessions are happening. Well I hope this helped, drop me a line...

cheers
