So far, sidney has shown more potential i think. He's young but i think his game will develop when he gets used to the NHL style of play.

and look who crosby has to work with and learn from....then look at who ao has. overall i think ao is better right now but in the long run crosby will be better if he keeps playing on the pens

AO is definitely better right now, hes one point be Sidney but Crosby has 3 or 4 Hall of Famers and AO has absolutely no one. AOs been doing it all himself and being pretty dominant while Sidney has a way better supporting cast and is just one point ahead. Then again its still real early so who really knows. Maybe Vanek ends up winning Rookie of the Year.

I think so far Ovechkin has looked like a much better pure goal scorer and he plays on a team with less skilled players so right now i give him the nod

ive always like ovechkin better , everyone was so obsessed with crosby over looking ovechkin's skill. crosby is amazing , but ovechkin plays offense as well as playing physical D, i dont know if anybody watched ovechkin's first NHL game but his first shift he checked marchment so hard the frame came off the glass. on top of that he got 2 goals that night, and this is playing with the caps who have no superstars unlike the pens , but once pittsburg gets things flowing and get their lines straightened out crosby will start putting some in the net.

Crosby had a nice dive and attempt to draw a penalty tonight. A couple of choice words for the ref when he got called for a penalty as well. I missed the first two periods but he hasn't looked very good in the third.

I think AO is better right now because he has had more time to develop and is a year older, but as an offensive weapon I think Crosby will eventually be better. I can see Ovechkin becoming Federov-esque of the early/mid 90's when he was putting up a lot of points and won a couple Selke's in there.

Now we've had some time to see them play I think its pretty clear Ovechkin is infinitely better than Crosby in terms of defenisve play, intensity, checking, scoring and even leadership (despite Crosby's undeserved A). I'm hearing a lot about potential and who knows Sid the Kid might be great in a few years but right now he just looks like a petulant kid who doesnt appreciate the hall of famers he's playing with

to the point that they're retiring.. (palfy)

He may be young but so far he hasn't had the goods when his team needed them unlike Ovechkin who's put up huge shifts for what would otherwise be an absymal Caps team. Just my opionion.........

Right now i would say ovechkin, all you have to look at is the stats. Also some of the goals i have seen ovechkin score on ESPN are way better than crosby's. But time will tell who is better in the long run.

I'd say Ovechkin at the moment but in a few years' time, who knows? Marek Svatos also looks very impressive. He's mabye not up to Ovechkin/Crosby standard but he's not far off. He's got amazing confidence for a player of his experience.

Don't count on that. Svatos has got amazing confidence and accuracy for a player with such little NHL experience. If he keeps playing the way he is at the moment and continues learning from the more experienced players in Colorado then he could start making a serious impact soon.

Svatos looks like he will be a big offensive star for Colorado, but I don't see him as a leader. Svatos might have the offensive talent of Yzerman, but not the leadership.

Oh also, Svatos shouldn't be compared to Yzerman ever. Don't get me wrong though, I love Svatos, but he's not ANYWHERE near Yzerman.
