Shoulder Pads

Recommended Posts

I'm looking into getting some new shoulder pads and am looking for any suggestions. I'm looking for a good combination of lightweight and maneuverability as well as great protection. I play left-wing and am somewhat on the small side (5'5" 140lbs). Also for something under $100.

We play full contact!

Any thoughts on the 2003 Easton Z-Air shoulder pads here?

I use the vapor 10s. They are lightweight, manuverable and they offer great protection on the shoulders. They also must be good because about 6 people on my team had them last year.

I have the Vapor 10's and they are great. Only complaint is thesternum pad sticks out a bit but they are very comfortable. They were only $50 on giant.

Is that the middle piece. If it is I agree but it only sticks out a little so it doesnt even matteer. I think you should seriously look into those.

I have itech 655s and got them for like less than $50 CAN after taxes. They're light, comfortable and move really well. Great for forwards. Adjustable bicep cuffs, air spinal protection, PE inserts in multiple different places. I love the pad

I would have to agree with wingsfan19, the Sherwood 5030 shoulder pads are great. They are way more maneuverable because of the way the shoulder caps are attached. When I first bought them, I wasn't too sure if I liked not having a lot of padding and big shoulder caps but I liked having more mobility in my arms. I used to wear the 02 Easton Z-Air shoulders and hadn't worn them since. The Itech recreation shoulder pads are even lighter and less protective and offer great mobility as well.

The Sherwood 5030 Shoulder Pads & Itech SP50 Adult Recreational Shoulder Pads are both around $30 US

I'll echo Jofa 8800. Great protection, and light too. Picking up last years Jofas will save you a bunch as well.

Jofa 8800 are light? Must be on a planet with less gravity because when I picked em up, they were heavy. I use 6500s (just an older version of the 8500s, they have red/black logos) and my complaint is ventilation, they don't freaking breathe!

The vapors should be good for you: http://www.kempshockey.com/ws/index.cfm?offset=11 , especially if you're not playing contact. Also, those vapor 6 pants are a great deal at that price.

Itech Techlite, I absolouty LOVE them, very light and very easy to move in. Also I use the Sherwood Vintige ones, they are basically no padding, but I love them, very light, and extremly easy to move in, but almost no protection.

I would agree, Jofa is not known for light weight protection but just good protection. Go with the Vapor series or the new Synergy line--more expensive but Easton makes the best equipment in my opinion.

Hockey Giant has a good deal on those. $49.99 - What do you like about them?

There light, very protectice, and very comfy. There just super nice shoulder pads. I will definatly stay with these. Before this I have had the easton z air, and the koho 3380, but I didn't like them as much.

I use Nike v10s. I would say they are the best overall shoulder pad. Great maneuverablilty and great protection.

I echo comments from earlier about the Sherwood 5030s. Great classic pads with lots of mobility. Ferland, Easton, and Bauer also make classic style shoulder pads, but I don't feel comfortable commenting on their quality since I have not tried them.

Hespeler, Graf and others make vintage style as well. Not a big fan of some parts of the graf but I've never had a problem with anything I ever bought from Hespeler.
