I'm not really sure why Avery went after Fisher for that hit. It looked like me to be a textbook hipcheck. That's ok though, I've got no problem with that fight. The guy is eyeball-to-eyeball with Sean Avery but has taken on Probert, McSorley, and all the rest of the BIG HEAVYWEIGHTS for over the last 15 years, no questions asked. I think your "fight someone your own size" idea just blew up when you think about Domi fighting anybody, any size. So when do the Kings play the Leafs and Sean can pick on someone his own size?

Oh man, you're blowing this way out of proportion. It was definitely a cheap shot, but McGratton did not cross check him in the throat, stop making mountains out of molehills. Avery was running Hasek all night and beaking off as usual, McGratton has every right to go after him and Avery has every right to turtle if he wants. I don't think either player did anything particularly wrong there. I also don't get the bs about Andy Murray being a coach who sends goons out onto the ice. The fisher avery fight was started by avergy. The Cowan fight was a mismatch that Cowan started and Chara was obviously pissed about that so he went after Gleason, who's a pretty tough guy in his own right. So which incident is it that we're calling Murray a dirty coach over? The one where he sends out hsi best defenceman, a norris candidate, who also happens to be a huge mangler. I don't see too much wrong with that. It's not like he sent Chara out and told him to jump the smallest guy on the ice.

Ottawa has a tight knit group and defend each other. Barnaby went after guys twice his size, but of course Avery has haalf the cajones Barnaby has

From the bits I saw, LA was handling themselves very well. 2 or 3 questionable goals on Labarbera and a good outing by Hasek was the difference. McGratton can handle himself with anyone in the league, without question. He still should have been suspended, it was pretty weak for him to go after Avery when he obviously didn't want to fight. Conversely, if they let Gretzky off, Murray and Chara should've been let off. I think we saw how Avery can hurt his team tonight. If he won't fight, some teams will take it into their own hands. Neil went after Dustin Brown and Brown is very lucky he isn't seriously hurt. I really think Avery wasn't as bad last night as the highlights would lead you to believe. Hasek falls at every corner and the pucks always in the crease with him. He was going after rebounds and getting manhandled.

I would hardly call it schooling. Hasek came up huge numerous times for the sens, and Labarbara didn’t. It was the main difference in the game. The Kings were in no way dominated by the Senators. I think the kings even out shot them. The scoreboard may show a lopsided victory but if you watched the game it wasn't.

I was thoroughly entertained even though the Kings lost. The Kings/Sens games always get out of hand. LA vs. Ottawa Stanley Cup finals would be something else. Especially with all the comments after the game and the little altercation between Bryan Murray and the Kings color commentator Jim Fox.

Incidentally, does anyone know of anything between Andy Murray and Bryan Murray? I don't think they like each other for some reason. Could have something to do with B. Murray having been the GM of the Ducks I guess.

But when they're lined up for a faceoff and the guy CROSS CHECKS another guy in the throat, throws his gloves off and starts throwin' em before the other guy even has any indication of what's happening? That is so fucking cheap it's sick. Cheaper than anything Avery has done this season, that's for sure.

If a player does something DIRECTLY to another player, i.e. Barnaby slewfooting Lindros and that player goes right for him, that's okay.

Avery hadn't done a damn thing to McGrattan during the game, just as Gleason hadn't done a damn thing to Chara.
