I'd go with a Vapor over a Synergy anyday, better feel and kick IMO.

Yep ,purchased 2 synergy 's last week and already broke one. used to be very faithful easton customer ,but bauer seems to be making great equipment.

The Vapor XX also break fairly easily. Mine lasted me about 15 games before the shaft broke. There was a thread a few weeks ago where a lot of people were saying similar things about their XX's.

TPS Response Plus (455 Grams) Tkachuk Curve Stiff Flex

I go with that over a Bauer or Synergy,Its a great stick.

Unless you want lighter weight ,go with an Adrenaline or an Adrenaline Control(GRIP Stick) (about 430-435 Grams)

I have had great luck with TPS Sticks.

I have used Easton composites (Synergy, Synthesis, Z-Bubble) for the last couple of years, but I made the switch to bauer because I was looking for something with better feel. My vapor xxx lite has much better kick than my Easton sticks and I can feel the puck a lot better too. I also used a Modano blade, but switched to a PM9 Hossa on my xxx lite. The blade pattern is identical to Easton's Modano pattern.

I actually Purchased the XXX myself from a guy who hatted it and I love it,,it is pretty beat up. got it for 50 bucks, and when I went to the store a XX was more my budget than a XXX. but I am thinking that the XXX might be worth it. I also heard alot obout the XX breaking alot,, alot of the guys I play with switched from the XX to the XXX. A side note: does anybody on this forum have The Bauer 8000 shoulder , elbow or shins I got all three a week ago and they are the most confortable piece of protective gear I have ever worn.

You could always order the Blem XXX from Perani's. Should be more in your range.

I don't like to bad mouth anyone but I had a bad experiece from Peranis. I have wide feet and I havent played in 3 years so I was out of the equipment loop. I told them this and they recommended the vapor XX skate,, it was a great skate and I wished I could keep it but they were brusing my feet. and when this started to hapen I knew something was wrong,,,so of couse I was stuck with the skates---witch i understand but the manager (who Helped me would'nt even appolagize even after 3 of the guys there, told me they couldnt beleive he recommended vapors for a wide foot. Got the 8090,s from Band R and love them. just wanted to share that little story.

Exactly! Unless you know exact fit, never buy skates on line.

Funny story, today a customer came in with a pair of VAP VII skates he bought on-line for a "great" price. Seems they advertised the regular price as $329 and he could get them for $149. When I told him that the skates were a discontinued 04 model that sold for $149 when new, his jaw dropped. Then I charged him the $10 for new sharpening and $25 for heat molding. hehe. Love it! :D Score another one for the big bad LHS. I had the 05 VIII in stock for $149, free sharpening, etc. But, instead I made $35 off this guy and didn't have to fit him or nothing. Sweet!

That's cool Hurricane, I definately respect not going to a store which has treated you poorly.

Thats why im not to mad about it a learned years ago skates are made with a certain foot type and if you don't meet that type it is hard to find a good fitting skate. I have read some skate reviews on this sight and it looks like the 8090 were the best fit for me !

O ok Hurricane,Thats a different story. But if they didnt fit right why did you get them, did you walk around the store with them before buying them?

Just to be safe, next time ask to try on as many different models as you can. The thing is they arent you, if they dont fit and you say they fit nice they are going to assume they fit you. It still was partly your mistake ,but i can see why you hate that store.

It can be hard sometimes. The boot is warm, employee is telling you those are normal "hot spots", etc.. When I bought my Hi-Ho's they were amazing, about a full skate later I knew they were a size too big and would eat my foot away.

I know ,they felt great in the store!! I wore them for about 20 minutes. It wasnt until I started actually skating that I noticed my foot wasnt sitting right. A bauer rep told me my foot was like the letter u in the skate so once You start skating hard and crossing over the pressure goes right to the side of the foot and the ankles,,right were all my brusing was. they were 10 EE so I thought my foot couldnt be wider than that, I was wrong, but the store should of known this and the rep aggreed.

Vapor > Easton in terms of puck feel, kick, weight, balance, bascially everything. My next still with be another XX. I miss my old one, and I'm starting to get tired of woods (not consistant enough).

Hurricane - what B&R location did you buy it from?

The troy location, but the manager from Clinton called around for me. In this area 10 wide is hard to find. I also purchased all my protective equipment from the macomb location. I just found out the other day that the Oynx rink has has a B and R inside. good to know I work on that side of town, OH that is right, And I purchased my Helmet from the fraser location.
