New MiA Glove Pics

Recommended Posts

is it just a Mac issue or is everyone else not able to get the MIA website to work properly when you chose to make a custom glove? All the flash or java pop ups while making the glove are blank. Hard to know what your making

Is the reason some folks have it out for MIA because they sell direct to customers and cut out the middle man, i.e. the LHS? Personally, I need to TRY ON a pair of gloves before I buy but man, all those custom options are intriguing!

They sell them to LHS also... Eastwest hockey carries them and any shop that wants to order them can..

There are some other reasons that will stay with those who know but I would say the overwhelming reason is their direct to consumer program that many don't agree with. Their original advertising as "Made in America" bothered a few people also. My thought on them is if you like the gloves and you really want a custom pair of mits then feel free to use them. Nothing they have done is different than what a lot of others have done to get ahead in the world of business. The group at MIA has been great to me and some others so I wouldn't have a problem working with them again. To each their own as far as MIA goes. Love them or hate them, they are still around.

K I'm confused here... maybe you guys that have bought MIAs recently can answer. Do all the MIA gloves now come with "Made in Canada" in big print on the cuff? Just cause I'm Canadian and I think that would actually be pretty cool, to me. I'm wondering if you have to ask for that as an option or what.

Secondly, does MIA really stand for Made In America? Or is it just a brand name? I've lived in Quebec and I find it hard to believe that Les Quebecois would start a companie actually CALLED Made In America.

Thirdly, is it possible to get MIAs in Dallas colours? Cause my college has basically dallas colours, with the Forest Green, Black and White+Brass. I was trying to make it happen on the customizer but I couldn't get what I wanted. Maybe I'll just have to call them up... it's been a while since I've spoken le francais en tout cas LOL

correct me if I'm wrong, it has been a while since I took any geography courses, but isn't Canada part of North America? So that whole Made in America thing may not be such a misnomer, just us arrogant USA people thinking if it says America, it must be us. As far as a consumer direct program, yeah it has it's pros and cons, but I see it impacting the business itself more than LHS owners. How do they realistically advertise without alot of shops carrying their stuff? Word of mouth only generates so much profit, that and LHS can carry other products if they don't like MIA. I personally like them, might even consider getting some if I can convince the boss I need 170 dollar gloves.

Just tell me how many canadians you've met that call themselves americans.

Look, let's just keep it on the products or this topic is going to go to hell like a lot of the others.

just a little semantics Chadd, no worries. Like I said though, I think the gloves look pretty good and the custom options definitely rock, but for those of you who have had personal experience with them, let me ask you: Why do I want 170+ dollar MIA gloves when companies like Mission make a sweet 100 dollar glove? Is it really worth the extra 70 bucks, and why? For those who play inline as well, which materials seem to hold up the best on the sportcourt? This of course is the unfortunate part of not having many local shops that carry these gloves.

I'm with Mack in not being fond of the look, it doesn't work for me. I've always liked the Mission gloves, especially the Heliums. I couldn't imagine using an eagle copy for inline play when the Helium has such good ventilation in comparison. Add in the cost difference and you can damn near afford two pair of gloves for the price of one.

Oh well I'll call them up and get the details on what they would look like. Go and get them from the horses mouth.

Question: do they have some kinda kevlar patch in the palm to prevent a hole? I don't know if it's because I hold my stick wrong, but I usually wear a hole in my right glove (I shoot left). And so I'd be interested to know what kind of durability the palms have.

My gloves cost 217 cdn including tax and shipping. Me and my brother ordered 1 pair each so the guy gave us extra features like palm and plastic inserts free. The guy you order them through is really easy to deal with and Devilsrule, the main material is navy tufftek with a navy leather stipe in the middle. The golden yellow stuff is carbon so i pretty much used all the different materials.

Compaired to a pair of eagles there about the same price but I got all the features that I wanted.
