Shaft

Recommended Posts

Im selling my L2 to a team mate and i was going to get a shaft to go with a innovative blade. Im deciding between the 05 red easton ultralite or maybe a tps xn10 redlite or another z bubble shaft. I want one that will last and wont let me down in performance especially slappers but wiristers too.

Any opinions?

Broke 2 xn10 redlights in a month and the z-bubble grip I once had died pretty quickly (2 hand slashing).

Best performing standard shaft IMO is the Bauer XX Pro shaft, it's available on www.hockeyworld.de. It's the only standard shaft I know that has a taper (not focus flex), it's very boxy but the weight is decent and the shots are great.

Lenght: 50inch

weight: 290g

It seems like a taper shaft just with bigger dimensions so instead of tapering to a short hosel blade it fits standard blades. Durabillty has been fine so far and it just seems more solid ala UL.

cant really go wrong with any of them.

only issue is with the zbubble's durability.

other issue is the short hosel of inno blades, 2 inches shorter, and you could need a longer shaft...

I like my RL XN10 in terms of shooting performance, but it's so light I find that it feels blade heavy with anything except wood blades. I also find the shaft diameter a little smaller than other shafts (although I've never measured).

That's correct.

Almost forgot to mention it has grip, but it's not stick um' instead a very slight almost unnoticble, inbetween soft grip and nothing.

If it had double concave sides instead of it's square boxy feel I would never consider another shaft.

Price is 125euro and you don't have to pay the toll tax usual for packages from the states since both UK & Germany are both part of EU.

Well i just feel more comfortable with a standard 2 piece , i mite consider that M2 but im still maybe thinking of the grip ultralite.

RL XN10 is very light (obviously). I paired it with an Inno and with a Bauer graphite blade and it does not feel blade heavy at all. It´s only a back up for me so I haven´t used it much at all but I can for sure say it´s definitly a very good shaft and I liked it much better than the Z-Bubble.

Playa....you from the UK? In case you are looking to buy an RLXN10 give me a shout I don´t really have a use for mine anymore as I now use tapered only.

easton shafts with inno blades...But it doesnt always happen..Chadd said once in a while

Could have been a remarkable coincidence as well

Well ive used a z bubble with an inno blade and that seemed fine and considering z bubbles break in the area where the blade goes in maybe the ultralite will be less likely to have an explosion at that point with an inno blade.

For what it's worth, I really like the balance and performance of my M-2 tapered shaft with Innovative blades.

I thought M-2's were standard shafts, not tapered. Am I missing something?

if i get an ultralite what flex should i get?

Im using an 100 flex z bubble and i think i can go for a stiffer stick. But am i right in sayin the ultralites tend to be stiffer than the z bubbles?

Mine's a pro stock m-2 and tapered. My point was simply that the Mission / Inno combo has worked well for me (in my case, tapered).

Some ppl (including me) feel the z-bubble is whippier than it's flex rating due to the Focus flex at the buttom of the shaft, so most likely yes a 100flex UL will feel stiffer.

not for me, my 75 flex z bubble feels like an 100 flex synergy and seems to be more durable than a ultra lite. She will be 2 years old in 11 days

Can't go wrong with the XN10 Red Lites. I have 4 of 'em, 2 Regular for roller and 2 Stiff for ice. Ridiculously light so it's tough to find a good balance between blade and shaft.

Have you tried it with a PTC? I've had customers ask if it's a nice combo but I've never used it myself and I tell them that.

No I haven't. I guess I 'm cheap 'cause I stick with wood blades. Recently, I bought a pair of the Easton wood/composite hybrid blades which aren't too bad. My one friend tells me if I used a composite blade, my shot would even be more disgusting. Has anyone ever complained about replacing the blade? I've found that when I tried to put in a 5030 blade, I have a hard time getting it in there. Maybe beacause it is thinner than say an Easton shaft.
