DaveTheWave 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 I was wondering if any company reps or dealers knew approximately how many roller hockey players there are in the U.S. judging from sales figures.
Jim A 4 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 9 people buy stuff, everyone else claims to be "sponsered" (sic)
All Torhs Team 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2005  I hate/love to hear when people say that they get everything free cause their on TMD or the Blast or OC blades, We all know they dont, maybe discounts, thats all they get.
Shorthanded67 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 I do know that a lot of "sponsored" teams get the lower-end equipment (pants/gloves). Tour sponsors an un-Godly amount of teams and in my experience that's what I've seen unless you are a regular NARCh/TORHS pro team where you may receive the higher-end gear (ie: Tour Beemers out of St. Louis). DaveTheWave 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 I'd guestimate only 2000-4000 RH players in the US.
Jim A 4 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 99% of a teams with a sponsorship pay for their gear, Factory teams (such as NARCh PRO and others such as select Mission Sniper, etc type squads) get gear...most sponsorships cover uniforms and maybe 1-2 other items to give a "branded" look...there are more than 2000-4000 players in the US though...think of all the youth and rec leagues out there..you get 3000 or so just at a NARCh Finals..and while that is the end all be all of RH..I hear others play too.. :P
Shorthanded67 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 Not that you're biased or anything.... Yeah a lot of teams may look like they are "sponsored" but they really just use the Tour or Mission or other branded jerseys that are available for retail to anybody. I have a team that bought ProJoy jerseys for tournaments and if people ask me how to get sponsored by ProJoy, I just tell them they can have the identical jerseys too for a mere $50 apiece. EndGame 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 I'd guestimate only 2000-4000 RH players in the US. Nah .. it's a bigger market than that. If that were the case there wouldn't be multiple companies making ... for instance ... hockey skates. There are probably 200 players alone at the rink I play at. I'm sure the folks at Mission and Rink Rat who post here would have some marketing info. I'm curious to hear the answer.
stevoc 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 I'm sure the folks at Mission and Rink Rat who post here would have some marketing info. I'm curious to hear the answer. Just out of curiosity, how many skates of each version were made for Mission for the 2006 models?I think that could give an idea of where to start, for I'm sure Mission makes a certain number of skates for a percentage of the market. You guys know anyone on the west coast (especially San Jose area) that has an over 35 tournament team? Thanks!
Jim A 4 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 Krog,MPC Bulls, have a 35+ team....and Larry Botsfords Bordercats/Can Am Stars squad is out of Detroit but a good group as well...I'd think Dan Maxwell will have a group for '06WN since its at their home rink...Plus since Goodwin turns 35 this year..that's where all the prize $ is going !! est 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 Here in the Uk we have 8000 players in 6 seperate leagues, playing either Ball or Puck hockey, some im guessing the US playing number way over 5 times that amount.
Justin 1933 134 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 Your guys numbers are way off....I will leave it at that...Do you think we could survive if we only sold 6000 pairs of skates a year....The larger Ice hockey companies make 300k-500k Ice skates a year by my best guest.... Chadd 916 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 The larger Ice hockey companies make 300k-500k Ice skates a year by my best guest.... and half of them are on closeout at bigbox.com within 12 months of arriving in shops.
Eazy_b97 1 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 I'm guessing there are 1.25 million people playing in the US.
Jim A 4 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 there should be some info on usahockeyinline.com registered players between 80-100k i think with them..plus all the others who don't go through them..
jay 1 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 So 6,000? There are easily over 500 players in inline at Toyata Training Center in El Seguendo and probably another 400 or so in the other league I play in in LA. Figure there are probably over a dozen more leagues and rinks in SoCal and that almsot all those rinks have kids leagues as well and I bet you could easily reach 10,000 players in this area alone. weirdo 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 Just FYI, here in France the last numbers showed around 12000 players. So this is for a smaller country where at the beginning ice hockey isn't popular at all.So I'd guess USA, with more of a hockey culture to start, woulhd have at least 100 000 in-line hockey players. DaveTheWave 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 So how many inline skates are manufactured a year?
hehatemefrisbee 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 How did you guys get these numbers....?You figure at NARCH there are usually anywhere from 300 teams and up. Each team has like 15 kids on it, there is 4500 kids right there. And thats a very modest guess. At one tourny....
DaveTheWave 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 Well the whole point of this post is to find out. I am throwing out numbers (pure conjecture) because the posts were getting off topic. Justin gave us a clue and it seems to have been implied that it would asking too much to get the numbers of inline skates manufactured per year.
PJLime 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 Don't forget to add in the 10 guys that I play pickup with in the park. None of us buy skates every year, though. More like every other year.
