NEW RBK 9K pump goalie skate...

Recommended Posts

Any chance you can scan the rest of the catalog?

Sorry, I don't have it.

I got these scans from Paul at Dukes. He was nice enough to post them on the goalie store board. I thought I'd share 'em with the good folks here on ModSquad.

I think that the rbk and ccm skates are the best new skates coming out. The ability to change runners on a goalie skate is awesome. The vapor skate looks pretty cool, but After the durability issues i have seen with bauer XX and XXX skates I'm not going to shell out that type of money on their goalie skates unless they prove me wrong....they do look quite wicked though!

Does anyone know if the rbk pump goalie skate will come in like a 5K or lower model with the pump? Also will there be 8K goalie skates as well?? Are any of them out yet?? Any info on this would be much appreciated.

are replaceable runners actually that important? think of how long itll take to go from a new blade until it is fully worn out. probably quite a long time and by that time if youre feet havent already grown there will be way better skates on the market with new features that everyone will want and these will be old news. the only reason i see a need for replaceable runners is if the blade breaks which i have never seen happen on a goalie skate.

im just saying how often are you going to replace the blade on a goalie skate?

Some goalies sharpen their skates frequently. I do mine, ever two games. After 5 yrs, my steel is gone. So, on my current skates I have the choice of new cowlings at $120 plus, or new skates. The replaceable steel is a great feature for goalies like me, plus stainless will last longer than carbon. Also, keep in mind, there are many terrible sharpeners out there who unnecessarily grind away the toe steel. I've seen 6 month old skates that needed new steel. So having replaceable steel at $40 a pair, is a great option.

Yes, the 5k is a pump, the 3k is not. No 8k, just three models.

I get my sharpen every 2 game as well...

I prefer them sharp...otherwise it's harder for me to slide, but then again, my pads sucks so I can't slide all to well anyways.. lol

I think the replaceable steel is a great idea in a goalie skate, especially for those guys who, like me, get their skates sharpened a lot, my only qualm with it is that the stainless steel is not as soft, don't know how thats going to affect performance at all, any ideas...??

i'm guessing it's because the 8k's last longer than XXXs (player skates), and since goalie skates should have similar construction, and the 9k is basically an 8k with a pump, the 9k will last longer?

Grrr....I'm getting really impatient with RBK and CCM. I just want them to release these. I want new skates!!

It wouldn't suprise me, but when you need gear what can you do? CCM fits my foot, Graf doesn't. I'm not going to quit buying from a company that I have bought from for 12+ years because they want to save some money. I'm a business student so I understand their reasoning whether I like it or not.

Nelly, I understand but my point was that the guy who started the thread and is drooling over the skates is the same guy who said to boycott all the big names that make stuff overseas. Kinda ironic
