i dont know how good it will clean your shield up but it does help prevent fog up.i take shampoo and rub alittle on the lenses, buff it in like you wax a car,let it dry then buff it out,it does clean alittle bit.it wont get out scratches.

I wouldnt use anything else than what they tell you to. I went the cheap way and ruined myvisor. Its like $7 for the spray, and you can get a new cage for like $20. I didnt even both cleaning my 1XCEL visor, so i just threw it somewhere and bought a Bauer Tru-Vision and im loving it.

One of my referee partners explained to me that he dampens a cloth with a touch of Windex, and rubs clean. Not sure on the Chemical-Crack situation, but he's been fine using Windex.

With an Oakley/1Xcel shield you should only use the AFR solution that they make for it. Any other chemical will eventually caused the visor to have a spider web effect on it ruining the visibility. The reason that they need a different type of cleaner is because Oakley/1Xcel shields are designed to absorb moisture and then leak it out through the bottom while other shields are designed to repel moisture.

I use shampoo, it gets rid of watermarks, I've always used Shampoo on my Oakley visor and I've had it for a year, and it's still in perfect condition.

i used the windex to clean my oakley visor before the game. during the game it fogged, and i grab my cloth with the windex to wipe it off and it is permantley fogged now. i went back to my lhs and they say the warrenty is void if you dont use the apr solution. I would suggest you go to your lhs and buy a bottle. better spending 14 dollars on a cleaner than dropping another 100 bucks (CA) for another visor.

In the little instruction manual that come with the visor it says to use warm water and soap to clean it regularly. I would never use anything else, except the AFR stuff other than water and soap.

You can also go to a sporting good store (i.e. sport chek/dicks sporting goods) and they have cheaper visor sprays. i picked a cheap one up frok SC; for like 5 bucks.
