Turin or Torino

Recommended Posts

Ok, so we have the olympics coming up in the new new year, but the big question is WHERE is it ;) .

So is everyone here calling it Turin or Torino?

I'm calling it Turin because that's what they've been calling it on all the canadian sites that have olympic hockey updates.

Contrary to popular belief, I'm not a hillbilly. I'm actually Italian. But I'm from the US, not Italy, and here it's Turin!

Just as somebody said, only real Italians and pretentious wannabe Italians (aka Guidos in NJ) call it Turino.

But Turin will be a much quieter place without Styles' big obnoxious mouth.

Yap "Turin" it's the english/international name of Torino, like "Rome" and Roma or "Milan" and "Milano".

No way to get a ticket for hockey games, too much money... :(

The actual tag "turin 2006" or "Torino 2006" is decided by the host country. And Italians have shown in the past they will use their native language.

I rememer this from previous world cups, it was Spain 82, Mexico 86, then Italia 90, then back to USA 94, France 98 etc.

So we all know it as turin, but the Italians will call it Torino 06, and thats how it will appear in offical Olympic material (I believe)
