RBK is very round, at least the 8K is. The intake was too narrow for me, the v10 was perfect in size M... There aren't many helmets that are wide enough in size M for me but the v10/v08 and 9500... and VN Intakes are wide enough in a M. 8500 isn't as wide as the 9500.

I'll bump this 4-yr old thread instead of starting a new one...

What's the widest helmet out there these days?

I ask because I had a gentlemen come in the store earlier today with a rather wide (ok, extremely wide) head, and none of the helmets did the trick for him. Not even close, really. The closest we got was with an 8K Large, but even then, he couldn't get it on completely.

(Others we tried: NBH 4500 XL, Mission Intake L, CCM 652 L, and these weren't even close.)

I'm asking out of curiosity more than anything. Should this happen again, I'd like to, at the very least, point him in the right direction.

(The gentlemen in question said he's always had problems finding a helmet that fits; he said that when he was younger, he used a Spalding (!) helmet) :lol:

V08 is the largest I've tried on.

Sadly, I didn't heed your advise Chadd and went from Intake > Intake Fusion.... Holy crap. I was getting pain in my temples. Luckily, I haven't worn it on the ice, just in my house for about 10 minutes (all I could bear). I'm just curious if the actual spec measurements are indeed the same for the Intake/Intake Fusion, or if the e-tailers are just too lazy to update item descriptions. I did try the V08, and it felt great.. but I felt like it came down my neck a little too far.

might on the market for a new bucket. used to have the jofa 690 and loved it. do the RBKs fit similar? i'm not looking to spend too much, just something simple with a cage

Like I said though, this was an extreme case. His melon was waaaaaaay wide. Just from looking at him, I pretty much knew it was a lost cause.
