Chassis Question

Recommended Posts

I have some bauer vapor 10's older style Im going to put a chassis on...Im either going to put on the chassis that came off my mission 7500's or a Red Star E-frame...Im thinking the mission frame would be better...What does everyone else think?

If I were you, I quickly try to take advantage of the tour deal they have. They install a set of Hum'er chassis on (IMO the best setup), and throw in free wheels and bearings. However, it's all personal preference, I just happen to really like the Hum'er chassis. Out of the two you listed, I would probably recommend the chassis off of the 7500's.

Actully I knew about the tour deal and it is no doubt and awsome deal, I saw mixed reviews on the mounting of them a few months ago in a post but all and all most seemed happy with them...Ive never had a chance to use the hum'er chassis so Im not sure how it skates but tour puts out solid products for the most part...My problem is I have 2 chassis lieing around and low funds lol...but thanks for the suggestion.

I put a Red Star Alloy chassis on my 7500 boot and it turned out to be a sweet looking skate, the Alloy is a very light chassis and the boot is awsome...but I dont think I can let that mission chassis go to waste either cause it is one light frame as well.

I personally prefer the Red Star Eframe. It's light, and very strong, and no pair of Red Stars has EVER let me down. I can't say that for the Cateye Humm'r, regular Humm'r, or Mission Penetrator or Generator (can't remember which one I had, but it was the more expensive one). I'd reccomend the Eframe.

But, you have a perfectly fine Mission chassis that you just bought. I'd put that on there, since you have the 7500s with the Alloy already. These will be a good back up pair.

I'm a huge fan of the Red Star E-frame. The biggest characteristic that I love is the single axle hardware. The bolts rarely come loose even after lots of hard starts/stops.

I have not used any Mission chassis but I've had bolts constantly coming loose on the other two chassis I've had (Sure Grip 400 flat chassis and Tour Redline 72/80). Even after using LocTite.

Got pics of those? Bet they look nice.

Be careful with those magnesium frames because if you sweat a lot, they will corrode and break in time. The Beemers are awesome frames, and that is what I would reccomend you do, it is such a great deal too to get them on right now, I wouldn't hesitate about it.

Are you serius? That's crazy. There was a little paper insert that came in the box with the magnesium frames that said to take care of them and not let them get wet. It didn't really say that they would corrode and break though.

Looks good! Nice centered mount...I can't tell you how many mounting jobs I've done where I said "I want a center mount" and I get the skates back and the front is like 1/2 inch out further than the rear.

Its a great boot, super stiff and seems very durable so far...Was comportable enough to skate in right out the box...I have like 2 months worth of skating on them now and they fit like a glove with no baking....The chassis that came on the skates is a good frame as well really light, but I just like Red Star frames better so thats why I put the Alloy on them.

Guys I need to get my sensors off some old G90 boots, nobody in the DC area can do this kind of work, anybody recommended to remove the sensor from the boot?

Those be the hottest damn skates I've ever seen. I usually take a Kovy-esque "dental" approach to skates - the whiter the better - but those disprove my theory. And I must salute you for dropping $100 on the frames for what is essentially a cosmetic advantage!

I have a pair of the Alloys sitting here, too, and just ordered some Pro Tacks to put on them. They won't look that good, though.

Well I didnt pay $100 for the alloys I got them off a friend awhile ago and couldnt find anything to put them on...I just mainly like the one bolt sytem that Red Star frames have....the 2 bolt system has given me trouble with every set of frames Ive had..The 2 bolts always come loose even if you put lock tight on them...But Id like to see those Tacks when you get them mounted.

I have to agree with you about the Single Axle System of the Red Stars. I have never had (knock on wood) a problem with them coming loose on any of the Red Star chassis I have, and I have about 5 pairs. The double axels on the Mission 9500s scare me a bit. I just haven't had good success with double axles, and they always have gotten loose on me, or teammates that have them on their skates.

Wow. I actually didn't realize anyone still used two-piece axles - let alone Mission on top-end skates. My 5-year-old CCMs had single axles so I guess I figured everyone else did by now, too. I know you still see it listed as an attribute but I thought it was one of those stupid things like car advertisements that brag of A/C and an AM/FM stereo among the standard features. So there you go - the Red Star frames have more than looks on the 7500's stock frames.

I perfer the two-piece axles! I find that if the two-piece axle has a good lock on the frame there is no problem, one-piece axles can cross thread and be alot harder to remove once this happens!
