Vapour XX vs. 8090's

Recommended Posts

I had this same question and I will give you the response I got. They are two totaly different fitting skates. The vapors or a more narrow fit and the 8090s are more of a ccm boot more of a wide fit. The D in 8090s is a E in the vapors. As far as buy goes. The 8090s are lighter then the XXs and more durable is what im hearing. The 8090s can be had for less money too.

8090's a much better skate than the Vapor XX, hands down. Stay away from the Vapors just hundreds of dollars worth of trouble.

stupid question...why would anyone want the xx's. Is it really because of the way they look

weight is a main factor that and seeing alot of NHL players wearing them and the vapor XXX's is also another factor

The 8090s are just as light as the XXs. The difference is negligible, IMO. The real plus is that the 8090s will last years, whereas the XXs will last 3 months if you're lucky.

8090's are just as light (if not lighter), cheaper (cause can be found on close out), and more durable. Quite an easy decision if it were me to go with the 8090's. However, they don't fit the same (8090 are wider - regular D width, from what I understand, would be a EE width in a XX). But, confirm that last part.

Regardless, slam dunk of a decision so far as I'm concerned.

These two skates has a totally different fit. The 8090 is a high volume boot for people with wide feet and high insteps. The vapors are more of a narrow fit with medium to lower arch and lower insteps aswell. Not too many people would find both these skates as proper fitting.

As been said on this forum many times before, the best would be if you have a change to try both (maby along with other makes of skates) on to see what fits your foot the best. There is a skate for everyone but every skate is not for everyone.

Good luck!

Cheers!
