Extra long stick butt end

Recommended Posts

I did a search and didn't find anything...

Anyone know a shop online that sells extra long stick butt ends? Longer than the "long" 12 inch ones?

I need one that is 15".

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Have had the same problems with my OPS. Last sring I ordered 12 V110s and when they arrived, I had to put butt ends into each one of them. So what the guy at the store did is he ordered butt ends from easton (the same one as the ones on their ops) and he put them on. It didn't change the flex that much, since the ends weren't very long.

I think the major disadvantage from long butt ends is that is makes the shaft/ops more flexible.

If the butt end is too long, you will stress it when you flex the stick and break it. A couple of inches is okay, but if you go too much longer you'll run into problems.

Its just that i got a 6k and a xn10 shaft and the person that used them cut them down quite a bit so i need 4 1/2 to 5 inch but ends for them to equal my other shafts. I dont think easton make the composite ones that long. Do you think these will snap?

TPS will begin offering 6 and 9 inch composite butt ends this year.

A 4.5-5" wooden one will be fine. I think it's hit or miss with plugs sometimes. I had a 9" junior one with a lot of tape on the tenon in my old Z-Bubble Grip and it never snapped. I also had a 9" senior one in a broken OPS shaft of mine and it snapped off the first day I used it. But only 4-5" should not snap off.

Also, if you can wait, TPS is coming out with 6" and 9" plugs like Easton has this year. Before you ask, they should come out in the SPRING. :D

The one with the plug will be stiffer. More actual carbon will flex more.

Dude, that's not true at all. Physics states if you add length, you'll be increasing your leverage, effectively lengthening the bow of the stick. A longer butt end will decrease the flex, giving you more flex.

Think about a bow and arrow. The shorter the bow, the harder it is to flex it back. The longer it gets, the easier it is to flex....

Longer butt end = more flexible stick.

Yea but he was asking if the sticks of equal length, like 2 60" sticks, but one is 60" all graphite, the other 57" graphite 3" wood plug, the one with the plug will be stiffer because there is less graphite that flexes, and 3" of wood isn't gonna flex.

Im pretty sure the flexes would stay exactly the same. I have a 75 flex synthesis and a whip xn10 and the synthesis has a massive plug in it so its the same lenght as the xn10 and they feel exactly the same.

Maybe due to the part of the plug that is inserted into the shaft. Wood, and especially wood that isn't reinforced, bends quite easily.

Exactly. It's possible that there might be a slight difference, but chances, are no body would be able to notice it.

Think about how whippy wooden sticks are.....

Wouldnt it put alot of stress on the shaft where the plug is inserted?

If you use a long plus, there is the potential for problems. Essentially you have a long lever with a short amount on the other side of the fulcrum point.

Little offtopic: Does anyone know approximately how long butt end I'll need for my upcoming stick (sr z-bubble w/z-carbon) when I'm 6'2 tall and stick should come up to my chin?
