Are we counting nat's, regionals, or what? I did the Chicago regionals some time back. We seeded for silver, but didn't bother going to get our asses kicked.

I know a couple of guys on my team are going under Team e-Puck(IL) and the other set is going under Team Megaplex Bikini Thieves (IL) in the Men's gold.

I honestly think it's a waste of time if you can't seriously compete. Travel expenses, etc..etc add up too.

JSchults-I dont think any tournament is worth playing in unless you go there with the intentions of winning it. Last year (FT Meyers) my team (Team Hystyk/RHHOF) took 4th in mens silver and although some of you may think that silver is bullshit. think again. the team we lost to in the semi finals had JP susco in net, and quite a few others who have played in mens platinum and gold. Originaly their team was supposed to play in mens gold, but because it had filled by the time they had registered, they got sent to silver. Sorry to get off topic, but our goalie (Kyle Dalosio) took top goaltender. And although we didnt win or place in top 3, it felt nice to be a part of kyle winning that plaque. To anyone that hasnt played at NARCh nationals...you should go...by far the best experience of my awful hockey career. and being in that surrounding has inspired me to get better both physically and mentally.

played in a ton of NARCh/Koho Cup/Pacific Cup tournaments over the years. Haven't played in any tournaments since the last winternats in vegas. What's even more sad is I haven't played roller hockey in about the same amount of time and I've only recently picked ice back up again. :'(

JSchultz, who do you know on those teams from IL. I played with most of those guys on the Magic a couple years back and now live in FL and don't get to play with them anymore.

I'm out of the loop this year, but I believe there will be some new seeding standards for Mens' Silver....as for RHHOF ,Kyle I believe has won TG at regionals before or been very closein the mix when with CC and didn't you guys have Troho? who I know has a Sr. Plat medal from NARCh...

I went to Winternationals once w/ my college team. I think it was 2002. There was only one other team from Rhode Island besides us, I think they were called the Jokers.

As for Tro I dont think that he was on the Wolves roster when they won Plat Winternationals last year...thats why they let him play with us in silver. And Kyle is very good...he covers up for how awful the rest of us are. Once again...one of the best times I have ever had playing hockey.

I played when it was in Brampton, and I'm pretty sure I played when I was little younger in the same region. There was a team I was on that went to Vegas for, I think, Narch, but it may have been another "championship".

Wamps,

I'm not sure if it's the same core of guys you played with then. Stevie You, Bones, Junior, Robby Bronerski, and Moose. I'm not sure if you ever played with Tim Signeri, but he's filled in for the magic (bikini thieves) a few times, although I could be wrong. Junior and him are actually playing with Team Epuck I think. I also play rat hockey at the megaplex in Orland every Monday, so I get to talk with and play with the guys who play on the Megaplex team.

From what I've heard though, the current 'magic' team is nothing like you guys used to be. How old are you? I remember watching you guys plays Torhs or something at St. Charles and seeing you guys kick ass.

While this is true, I believe it takes some serious talent and teamwork to make things work. I've been part of teams that have gotten thrown together and things just blow up on us. I'll use an analogy I heard somewhere else: Playing Narch hockey compared to regionals and even local gold leagues is like going from the 8th grade to graduate studies at MIT. I have seen some seriously good hockey players out there that make me want to just quit and take up chess. Mind you, I'm good enough calibre that I have played USAC (remember that?) and USA Hockey nationals before. But imho, it takes a team of good calibre to play in Mens Gold, Narch Nationals.

1 more point to add...

Sassmasta, I have seen Mens silver, and it is definitely NOT bullshit. Some of the silver seeded teams at regionals may be, but at nationals, I guarentee people would be surprised at even some of the crappier teams.

Sass...I believe that Troho's squad was the #1 seed after the prelim round in '03 I don't think it was the Wolves squad..they had a different sponsor ?? because they took 3rd after losing in the semi's, not the Wolves squad...at Finals..the Wolves winning in Reno was a good story..Katinsky bros played great and having Pinherio was a major bonus..

don't both D'aloioso's play goalie? When they played Rink Rat Bombers in Rahway in the Sr Final that day it was mothers day and I think they switched..it was them Mark Doherty and some others..

I know tro used to play with the Blades a long time ago but I think that was more in the 99-01 era. In 03 I thought they were the Somerset Wolfpac...not sure...now they are Savage Wolves. And yes Both Kyle and Joey play goalie...both are realy good...I always feel inferior when I play with those guys...mainly because I am an awful hockey player.

You can't be that awful if your team placed 4th in a NARCh championship.

Unless that is, you were bought in as a decoy! ;)

Well...I wouldnt say I was a decoy...its funny how that worked out...I am definately the least skilled player on the team, however..I skate as hard as I possibly can every shift and that makes up for alot. It was realy exciting at narch because I scored our first two goals of the tourney, so that helped me shake my jitters. I joke about being an awful player, mainly because I dont have the skills that alot of the guys around me have. I am working at improving, but it takes some hard work, (which I am willing to do), lots of skating, and honest criticism and self evaluation(something I can take). As my friend Prashant says....I am a 'project player'.

As for seeing stio and the rest of the RHHOF guys...Me, Mark, Kyle, Mike, Joey, and Eddie see each other often...we play inhouse at inman together, and hang out after the games. Stio I saw at TORHS last week and ECHO last month.

narch is a great tournament. they know how to run a good tournament and give people great schedules which is what people mostly want. Im glad to be going to narch this year.. as i said earlier i was at torhs and aau last year.. if you have the chance to play in a regional maybe you will change your mind about nationals and be interested... its a great experience.. not just with narch, any tournament

Schultz,

I skated with Stevie Yao at Purdue for 4 years and played with Bones, Stevie and Segenari on the Magic up until last year when we had some team issues. Problem was that everyone was getting older and hockey was not the #1 priority, no matter how bad we wanted it to be. Bunch of us got married, myself included and now I play every once in a while in FL, not like I used to.

When we started, we did kick some tail, won NARCh in St. Paul and that same year in Vegas too. Took second a couple years ago in Vegas, the last year it was there and didn't do so well in Cincy and that was our last tournament as a team. Oh well........

Yeah, from what I could tell, the current 'magic' team isn't SO great. That core group of guys played in our gold league at hat trick (palatine, il) and still placed 2nd behind the Chicago Sharks which are a bunch of up and coming 17-18 yr olds. Maybe it wasn't their full team, but everyone did have the matching jerseys and such.

It sucks that people get older, but life happens. I can think of at least 3-4 local Chicago teams that were competitors at one point (Chicago Scream being one) but now I see tha are playing in beer leagues with college degrees and families. At least you guys had the experience, right?
