Here's a quick question. I've currently got a Dell Notebook, run iTunes with my iPod. I'm considering purchasing a MacBook. Will I need to reformat my iPod in order to make it compatible with Mac OS/ iTunes for Mac?

The iPhone looks amazing, really looking forward to see who is going to step up and bring it to Canada (if it ever comes). They sure hit right on the nail with that one. Yes it is a bit expensive, but like Jobs said during the keynote, it's a Nano and a Blackberry all in one, I think it's worth the price.

PC formatted iPods can work on both i'm pretty sure

I have a good question. I will probably buy a Macbook Pro in the upcomming months and with it I will probably buy the new Extreme Airport Wireless Base Station. My mom as a regular PC Desktop at home and I will probably put in a Wireless card in it (unluess I can plug the computer directly in the base station). Question is, will I be able to use both a Mac and a PC on the same wireless base station.

That's right PC formatted works on both but Mac formatted only works on Macs.

Alright Ive been tryin go get my itunes library onto another computer. I dont want to install ipod agent. Instead I've been trying to follow these steps on the Apple Forum. (I dont have a username on there, its not workin for me)

So here is the link to the directions I tried to follow. http://discussions.apple.com/messageview.j...essageID=797432

It went smooth till the second to last step.

eject iPod from System tray "Safely Remove Hardware" icon. This icon looks like a small gray rectangle with a green arrow floating above it. It's only there when a removable device (like the iPod in this case) is attached to the computer. Right-click & select 'Safely remove..', then click 'Stop' in the next window, OK in the next window, and then Close to complete the ejection.

I cant find this icon or find out how to solve this step. I think it would have all went well if I could get around this step. Anyone know how to help me?

Its in the bottom right corner of your screen, I think its called the system tray but its where your little msn guy is and itunes etc.

I believe it will work, but I am not certain. Reason behind my logic is if you're in a coffee shop with wifi, there are people in there with PC's and Macs, both connected with wifi.

Yeah, and I'm not certain about this, but I think I could just plug a cable that goes behind the computer(in the regular DSL connection plug) to the back of the Airport (because I believe you are able to plug 3 computers directly with the new Apple Airport Extreme that they released yesterday at the MacExpo).

Hey I bought an iTrip and it only gives you so many radio channels. Mine is 87.0-107.9 Well all of those are taken up by some sort of station. I cant get anything close to a clear sound of my ipod.

Is there anyway to request more stations? Or is there another FM Transmitter thats better then the iTrip?

Ask the FCC. That is the entire FM band.

Yes PCs and Macs can use the same wireless netowrk, they both use the same IEEE 802.11 standard.

Usually somewhere between 87-90 MHz there should be a clear enough station. I haven't had a problem finding a decent channel. It won't sound crystal clear, but it's close enough.

Check your antenna on the radio/stereo.

There are cables that can connect the iPod to auxilary or av jacks.

it matters where you are. In some areas the lower sections of the band are taken up, in others they are not.

okay, i just bought an iPod Video around december 10 for christmas at futureshop. i'm at school today and i have it in my pocket, i pull it out and the screen is cracked, not a actual crack to the screen but the ones where it looks like the color is smudged. i'm assuming its toast after only 2 weeks. i'm wondering if apple will replace it under their one year limited warranty and if anyone has dealt with them before for a similar situation. it wasn't really an accident, it was in its case (the belkin kickstand one) and i was carrying it around all day to find the screen is messed. no it does not play music either currently but it did/does turn on and it lights up with all of the colors jambled on the screen. i think that after only 2 weeks of use it should hold up better than that and i'm gonna give them a call soon. their warranty says they protect against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use so i'm somewhat optimistic.

thanks.

Just get a tape player connector. Its cheaper and better quality. Dont be afraid of a little wire.

In theory the quality is not better, it is just because you cannot find a perfectly clear FM band the cassette sounds superior. In a static free enviornment, the FM transmitter or modulator will be superior, but that is just not going ot happen.

Need some help out there.......

I plugged my 30 GB Video into my PC last night and while it said it was updating, iTunes froze. I thought I had a bad iPod so I took it back, got a new one and the new one does the same thing.

Has anyone else ever had this problem and if so, how can I fix it other than uninstalling iTunes and re-installing?

Earlier this week I started to get the freeze up too. My ipod is a 20gb 4G, and it plays back fine, it just doesn't sync with itunes consistently. I went to genius bar and the guy told me it's a problem with my ipod hard drive. Restart your ipod, and hold it up to your ear. Any audible click/tick/slap/clap is the hard drive failing. You might even hear a siren. When I restart the ipod while it's attached, it displays a sad ipod. Or it keeps trying to restart. I think the reason itunes or your computer freezes is because it can't finish writing to the ipod hard drive. I've tried restoring the ipod, I even clean installed windows. You can keep using it and aggravate yourself like I have, of you can get a new hard drive (google "irepair"). I'm gonna take a little time to myself before getting involved with an ipod that doesn't care about me.

Drop it from about 1.5feet straight down onto the charge port. That has cured a few of the ipods i've had with the unhappy face.

Mine has always made each of those sounds and there has never been anything wrong with it.

i have a 30 gig ipod video, and got it in 2005(at christmas). i plug it in and itunes will work for a few minutes, then freeze. this used to only happen on one computer, but it has also started on the other one. when i go to add something, it freezes up, then 2-3 minutes later a pop-up in itunes says "The Ipod "mike's ipod" cannot be updated. An unkown error occured (-50)." That is what it says word for word. this problem just started recently, so do you guys have any ideas?

thanks in advance.

EDIT: my ipod just started to work, like their was no problem in the first place. i am still wondering what the problem was though, so if it happens agian, i can know what to do.

I'm pretty sure the iPod is the worst invention ever just cause of the numerous problems people keep discovering.

For Example, my newest - Whenever I try to hook up the ipod to the pc to update it with new songs it doesnt work completely. The itunes program says "ipod is up to date and can be disconnected" but the ipod says" do not disconnect". I know its not busy charging cause it charged for the last two days. I know its not a problem with the song file because I even tried to delete a playlist and it was still on the ipod.

How long do I have to wait for it to completly be up to date, even though itunes says it is?
