Protective Shoulder Pads

Recommended Posts

I need new shoulder pads because mine are falling apart. I have Ferland 50 shoulder pads now. I would like a very protective pad with good back and rib protection. I tried on my teammates Synergy 700's and they were really nice, but I was wondering what else is out there that is really protective.

Jofa 7500.

Got to try them. Put'em on, run into a wall shoulder first, and feel no pain. Super light and flexible. There is plastic on the spine and sternum. The only thing is that the caps are not exactly "low profile". But that is what makes them so protective.

Ok, maybe don't run into the wall.

P.S. 9800 are even more protective, but a just a bit havier.

If you can find some mission M-1s, they are excellent. Price is prob lower now too because being discontinued. The 8k is excellent, can't ever go wrong with Jofa JDP technology.

Jofa 9800's/RBK 8K's

I'd also recommend these. Some people find them bulky, but these were the first and only shoulder pads I have ever used so I'm used to them.

I know Puckmugger is not always popular around here but he wrote what I thought was a nice review of the Jofa sholder pads back in '04 that seems to still apply to the Jofa/RBK models today.

My experience with the Jofa 9800's is that the only type of shoulder injury that they don't protect well against is when I fall forward or backwards and pin my arm underneith. I remember one time when coach had a few of us doing a dump and chase drill. I tripped over the blue line at full speed and slid into the boards shoulder first and only got he air knocked out of me.

What??? Someone wants protection instead of performance?!?!?!?! Whoaaaaaaaaaaa.

Seriously though, I also give the nod to the 8ks/9800s. If I didnt love the mobility of the Nike line, I would probly be using those.

I have been very happy with the DR SP88 Centurion Pro Shoulder Pads. They are by far the most protective shoulder pads I have seen on the market. I know that Scott Walker of the Predators uses them.

if you can get your hands on some Itech 655s, they may be a bit older but they're amazing pads. Really mobile, not like you're wearing pads at all but they're built like tanks.

i absolutely love my synergy shoulder pads (not sure which model but they're top of the line - not ultra lite).

They off excellent protection, and there is jus soo much technology worked into them. I have great mobility with them too.

They're great for any player of any size and stature, however having tried on a pair of jofas i found them to be a tad to bulky for me.

But if thats wat u prefer, pads with a little more protection, over pads with great protection and mobility, then its in ur hands.

Don't mean to sound biased.

my apologies
