Again i would probly take Ovechkin Hes bigger and has a more all around game. I did hate him after he took that dive against Canada though.

It may be biased because I'm from Nova Scotia, where Crosby is from, but I would take Crosby. I've never seen Ovechkin play so my opinion isn't really valid. Croby is very physical and has great hockey sense. He isn't all too big but he's very strong. He somewhat reminds me of Forsberg.

Soon as Crosby tries one of his behind the net moves, or any of his other hotdog moves he's going to get his clock cleaned, and I will laugh

did you hear the shannahan comments? he said that if crobsy or anybody else tries that behind the net move again, hes personnally going to kick the sh*t out of them

and i voted for ovechkin

Why did he do not kick the ass of his teamate Datsyuk in this case. Shanahan sucks, it's move like Crosby did that makes hockey so fun to watch. Shanahan seems to be jealous of skills players.

I think what Shanny actually said was if someone scored a goal against his team like the one Crosby did, he'd better be ready if he tried a move like that again, 'cause he'd be coming after him.

I don't think he implied that he would jump a guy and kick the S**t out of anyone who tried it...once.

BTW way Crosby isn't eligibale untl next year...so the comparison & debate is kind of unnecesary.

I'd take Ovechkin over Crosby any time. I live in Quebec so I see Crosby everywhere this year. The problem is they consider him as an unbeleivable hockey sense but I don't find his hockey sense is that good. Players like Ribeiro and Bouchard at Junior level were much better to see the ice. But if they consider Crosby has a power forward, he can be a big star in the NHL. The problem is I don't think Crosby has the tool to be a power forward in the NHL. Anyway he's a sniper, he's not a playmaker. So I don't know why people compare him to Gretzky.

Your an idiot, get your facts straight. Your telling me that a kid who has games where he gets 6 assists is not a playmaker? And he's not a power forward. And also stop bring up f$#%ing Ribeiro all the time your so annoying.

because crosby was just showboating. pavel was making a play in a game when it mattered (wasn't it a short handed breakaway?). not some trick shot when you're already killling a team. its all in the context of the game. when mike legg did it for michigan, it was at a point in the game when it mattered.

Crosby for his great skills and his ability to make everyone around him look good.

If that's the case why aren't any of his guys at the top of the draft prospects list?

Just look at the stats of Dany Roussin last year he got 117 points with 59 goals and 58 assists. Last year in the regular seasonhe got 54 points in total. He makes regular players around him look good.

EDIT: He was also drafted in the 7th round 223rd overall last year by the Panthers that would explain wht he isn't in the top draft prospects list.

Good thing rebounds count as assists ;) I remember Shanny's comments. He was referring to his actions after the goal, where he pushed aside his teammate so he could celebrate solo. Its stuff like that that ruins hockey, and make Crosby appear to be the world's biggest cack.

While a seventh round draft pick is far more talented than I am, it's still not a "top prospect."

I almost fully agree with you but I still hate kovy ribs fedo and I can see him adding "dats" into the mix the way he praises datsuk now. He just never has his facts straight. As for crosby, there is games where he sets up players perfectly all night and theres nights where he hogs the puck like a fat boy hogs a hamburger. And I didn't hear about him pushing his teammates out of the way, but that's disgraceful.

I refer to those as "Mario assists"

I can't imagine any of the mods will keep changing Kovy's name or it will end up being Kove, Ribs, Fredo, Dats, Zetts, Crosby, Ovech, etc....

The thing with Crosby's goal was it was already 5-0 for his team so thats why people were mad. I think that is.

That and pushing his teammates away so he could perform by himself after the goal.

It seems like so many people are jealous of crosby and there always cutting him down. Hes a great player that plays the sport very well and it maturing in hockey very quickly. Shanny is stupid, it does sound like he is jealous. I would bet anyone in the world that Crosby will make it in the NHL. I don't think he will be the next Gretzkey because no one can replace the great one. Today in the NHL I believe its a lot tougher to get points and make plays as back in the day when Gretzkey was playing. Anyways I think that Sid will get as close as you can get, I think he will be like a forsberg and rack up a lot of points, make lots of plays, and bea tough good forward. Most of you look at it as Sid is a hotdog player that is cocky. Well thats how it sounds to me anyways. People look at him as a hotdog player I think because he did the michigan and scored, well it wassn't a close game, why not try it? I am sure if anyone else had the chance they would have done the same thing. He's actually not cocky, and I don't believe he is cocky. I may know a thing or 2 about him because of my cousin, and one of my friends brothers played hockey with him.

LOL, Shanny jealous of Crosby ??

558 goals, over 1150 pts, couple cups, and a open invite to the Hall in a few years.. compared to 16 year old who has the talent and a possible bright NHL career but could just well be the next Alexandre Daigle, Daniel Cleary..

And yes, voted for Ovechkin..

The reason you dont do that in a 5-0 game is because the other team is already embarassed and that just embarasses them more. I think the only time i would do that if i was to is in the All- Star Game where it doesnt mean anything and its just for fun. Thats the only one i can think of other than in practice.

Crosby is gonna be good...I doubt he will be another Daigle. And, yes even Gretz is impressed with him. But to say he is the next great one **no capitals** is insane. Take this year for example....St. Louis lead the league in scoring...(what, 95 points).. Gretz has (let's round it out)...2850 Career

Crosby (or any player for that matter) is going to have to AVERAGE 95 points a year for 30 years to even have Gretz in their sights.

Sports Records that will never fall....Wayne Gretzky Career points. Safe!

I know that is a little off the topic, but for some reason, you really don't realize how many damn points that is until you do the math.

Puttiong up 200+ points for a couple of years tends to really put you out in front.

On the Crosby hot-dog issue, I think the pushing of teammates away so he can do a little jig first is worse than the move. But when it comes down to it, it ain't really that bad, it happens in other team sport celebrations, this kid must just've watched too much soccer or basketball, I dont think he is disrespecting his team of the game... from interviews it sounds like his head is more screwed on for a 16 yr old than mine is now.

the move: Sure it was 5-0, but you could say that was the best time to do it, less pressure if he messes up. Big deal he scored on it. He used a slightly different move. No-one bashes Cheechoo for his throught the legs effort. In both cases they did what they have to do to get the job done (put the puck in the net).

People just need to give the kid a break, he saw a chance to do something and had the balls to do it. Why discourage it and make the game less interesting. I'd rather watch a game where players can be instinctive, and use their skill to exploit situations instead of thinking "can't do that, this or that other move cos I might get bashed for being a hot-dog".

p.s. Shanny is over the hill and has lead hands, he's gotta be a little jealous of the younger kid's prospects, but he must be content with what he has acheived himself.
