I am so done with Bauer skates!

Recommended Posts

Well as you guys all now I have been through alot. 2 weeks ago I busted my new Vapors and today I find out my Warranty replacement 8090's are messed up. The place that I was getting my 8090's custom fit to my feet called me today and Said "Tony, call us we have a problem" Now you are not going to beleive this. I call them back and they tell me that they have punched out all my "hot spots" and have installed a shim for my pronating. But when they went to remove the holder and install the cobra they found that it was glued, YES GLUED! When they finally got the holder off they noticed a 1/4 block of wood In the inside between the holder and the floor of the boot and that white felt was glued over that. The guy told me that something was wrong and he has never seen this before. He said he did notice when I first brought them in that they did feel heavy but was'nt concerned. So he started to do more investigating and found that the boot was not put on the lath right and the boots were alot different from each other and that he would have to force the LS2 holder down by 7mm. he said this would Tweek the steel and the holder. now I know what alot of you guys are thinking well he just got a bad pair of boots...Your correct but if you now my hole story........................ this was the breaking point. So luckly the Shop warrantied them but I said no thanks and went on a skate shopping spree. Long story short got myself a pair of Graf G5...did'nt like the G9. Felt awesome I still will need a little bit of work done on them but whats good is they are not bauers so feel real confident.

The shop owner I got them from called me back and said he would warranty them or in this case you can just have your money back. NBH said they were modified so they would'nt touch them.....Even the store owner was pissed after he saw the 8090's. And I know the shop that worked on them is ligit because he said they were'nt going to charge me for the time and work they did.

i love my 8090s, but i have only sakted on them once

It's a great skate I don't want you guys to get me wrong. But I have several things wrong with my feet witch has complicated things so the lack of depedability and or quality is killing me. I have skated on bauers since I was 5 and no problems. I am not bashing bauer just this situation.

o, well i hope u dont have any problems with ur new skates

.......So do I I had them on my feet for an hour...My dad was real good friends with the owner so he took real good care of me. I went there set on Graf..Everybody who has them raves about them so I feel confident. I like the fact that the skate has some leather on them.

Your Vapors should have never been warrantied in the first place. As soon as you remove the holder and replace them with something else it voids the warranty. Bauer tried to help anyways but it was unfortunate that you recieved a bad pair of skates. Best of luck

the shop owner took care of me Not NBH...They Never cared in the first place. He felt bad that he sold me a pair of skates that broke. and agreed the holder had nothing to do with the Vapor breaking. therefore he made the decision to get me the 8090's. NBH was contacted about the 8090 and didnt care. They are a bad company but I always felt that there skate was were the best for me...when nike got envolved I lost alot of respect for bauer and so did so many people...Because from there, there skate changed..why do you think the 8090 is classic fit! It's and old bauer...I guess it is the Bauer comp 5000 make-up. if you don't agree..tough out of the hourse mouth..Bauer.

RIDICOLOUS....DO YOU THINK.........

But whats awesome is the Knowlege I have gained from this is priceless because I now Know A hell of alot more that alot of shop owners.

...We have been told!

When paying this kind of money for skates we should all expect nothing but quality gear and great customer service, but i guess they care more about money than selling a good product

I want to add this. I have heard dozens of storys of people getting F!@#ed from not only bauer..but CCM,Graf ,easton and so on. Most the time even if you have a real problem with your skates you are put on trial from the company and the shop owner that you must not know how to skate or some BS like that..I have heard it all. And the fact is they are not making the same quality products they made years ago. Lighter=less dependability.

That is so true... but why are they in such a race to make them lighter and flashier...

because thats what the kids want...

Why do you think Nike got into hockey, cause they saw a demand for the Nike style of gear and wanted to cash in. Hence we end up with all kinds of light weight , kewl looking junk that doesn't stand up to the abuse of the game.

Yes some of the gear has gotten better with the use of new material and designs but is it as rugged as the stuff we used in the 70's, 80's or even 90's?

As long as someone is willing to run out and buy the latest skate, pants or pads, the companies will keep turning out the stuff.

What needs to happen is a revolt of the players, a message needs to be sent to the corperations that we're not gonna buy something just cause it is flashy.

Hockey is not a fashion show!

Also... buy your gear from a local shop... these big box mail order places don't care about nothing but the sales numbers. I have yet to have and good service out of one of the big seller's. You might pay a little more but usually these shops have people that know something about the game, is someone you know, and will work with you if theres a problem.

Good luck with the new skates , hope this time something good comes your way.
