Apollo vs Apollo PRO stick

Recommended Posts

simple question - after searching through 43 pages of Nike+Apollo material :( , I still can't figure out what the difference is between the Apollo and the Apollo PRO stick.

Can't be stiffness because you can still buy the Apollo PRO at HG in 87-flex. Is it grip vs non-grip?

Thanks in advance,

TB

i've read about the colour thing as well, but the picture shows the creamsickle pattern...

seems like most people are happy with them - a few mention they are heavy but I guess it depends on what you compare it to.

My main stick now is a Salming G10 with blade and I love it - I'm looking at a different blade pattern though, maybe for my backup-stick. Figured instead of spending $50 for a blade, I can spend $70 for a OPS with the same P106 pattern...

They are Very heavy sticks that didn't really last in the market, personally I would not recomend them

They are not heavy....I hate people like you that think that an entire 30-40 grams is going to make a huge difference in your game....because guess what.It isnt going to at all

It seems as if you havent even tried the stick as well, so there is no way yo can have an opinion

I didn't think it was heavy at all, coming from a Z-Carbon and a Sherwood 5030. I like it so far; can't speak for durability, I've only used it about 4 times, but we'll see how it holds up during the season (and mine is a two-piece, not a OPS). I do have a friend who broke the blade on his Apollo OPS, cut it, and is using it as a two-piece; he's had it for quite some time and it's in great shape.

Yeah, a kid on my team was bitching that sticks are so heavy now... He was complaining that Stealths were going to be 420 grams for next year.

Also, when I mentioned that the ST was a more durable stick than the SL, his retort was that it was "like twice as heavy" until I told him it was 20 grams more and a pound is 454 grams.

I'll call a stick heavy when I'm dragging my top hand on the ice while skating.

Apollo PRO is much stiffer than the Apollo, which makes it more durable.

Happy Camper? :)

of the 7,345 threads I searched, there were definitely a few people who said it was heavy... not many, but a few

Anyways, compared to my backup stick which is an Eason Octane (blecch) with a wood blade in it (approximately 6 pounds for the combo - seems like it anyways), almost anything half-decent will be lighter. ;)

thanks for the info guys!

how can the PRO be stiffer when you can get them at 87 flex in addition to 112 flex? Can't be that - doesn't make sense...

quintin, both sticks are offered in the same flexes, how can they be stiffer?

I asked the HockeyGiant staff and told me that the composite material on the PRO is built more compact than the Apollo.

Actually I had 2 of them myself , so I have tried them and I found them very bottom heavy. As for durability they were not to bad, they blade chipped like every other OPS out there.

I don't see why you have a problem with me giving my opinion , is this not what this site is for ?

If he buys Appolo and it works for him GREAT, I wish him the best, I didn't like it personally , so what ? Too bad for me

you made it sound like you wouldn't reccommend them just on the fact that they are 'very heavy'.

490g is not that heavy and it's not going to murder your game. I can't believe people who whine about the weight of a stick, its just plain stupid.
