Bauer 5000 helmet Vs. 8000

Recommended Posts

Dilemma.

I broke my 3 years old 652 X-RAY helmet yesterday. I came to 3 shop and none had a great selection. Due to a small selection, i pick up a bauer 8000 helmet, cost me 175cnd.

Here is my problem: I think i made an impulse buying Because they were not any other model available.my 652 cost me 50cnd and lasted me 3 years never had a headic or a problem. So now that I have the helmet, I think that 175cnd is way too much.

Is the Bauer 5000 the same as the 8000?beside those little side adjustement.

Also, Does the rbk helmet feel like the tacks?

5000 is a much more popular helmet and its being used by alot more pros then the 8000 is. If your going to spend $175 cnd for a helmet you should most defidently go for the rbk 8k. It is defidently the best helmet on the market especially feeling wise. it molds so well.

i agree...i love my 8k helmet. it feels so nice and lighter than my old school jofa helmet. and my shield/cage actually fits better with this helmet. try it out if you can.

CobrAA, I have been wearing an 8000 for almost a year now, love it. This is the first Bauer that actually fit me. And I guess it comes down to fit. I have a longer and rounder head shape, so previous bauers, including the 5000 pinches me at the temple and the top of my head. Before the 8000, I was in a Nike Quest 1, equally as comfortable. Again, I think this is mostly due to head shape and fit. My advice? Go for the best fit and comfort, regardless of brand. They are all tested to safety standards. Of course, you can't break the bank on a helmet neither....

I just went from a 5000 to an 8000....they fit pretty similar, but the 8000 has a bunch of extra tweaks making it mroe of a custom fit. One thing I did notice is the 8000 circulates a LOT more air around your head.....keeps you much cooler than a 5000. Also de-fogs my visor quicker at the start of a shift.

I hope it came with a cage because I got my 8000 for 135 cdn. The only main difference between 5000 and 8000 that I noticed was that the 8000 is more adjustable and slightly heavier.

i have had 2 of each, they are oth great helemts.

i have been wearing an 8000 since near when they came out, and now i hate my 5000's compared to my 8000, the wideness is great and i like the gel-pads more in the 8000

thanks guys, i finally try it on ice today with my ccm cage and it was very cool, first time i spend more than 50cnd on a helmet! All those gel padding felt so ''hot'' and the cushining paddin around your neck is confo.

Actually i'm sure i will enjoy this helmet, thanks guys.

BLUES: Nop 150+tax(175cnd) with no cage, I would have pick up a RBK but they only cam with cage at 230cnd!

230 for an rbk seems like way too much, comes to 198 american and my local shop has them for 135 here in chicago, after using a 5000 for about 3-4 years im ready to get a new helmet, plus i never liked it in the first place so i am definatly going with the rbk, i have never felt such a comfortable helmet, in any sport.

I was in the same dilema. The 8000 is just a great fit because you can customize just about everything on it. But if the 5000 fits you ok, definilty go with the 5000. You can get one with a full cage for $99.99.

Just got a new job offer...too excited...can't sleep!

Anyway...

If you have a big wide head, and smaller neck, the 8000 will fit you well.

Definitely the most adjustable helmet. It is the only helmet that will fit me comfortably without any modifications. I currently use a modified 5000.
