ok..so you got a great deal on a pair of skates, as others have with the 8090's..and when they arrived..you had an issue..you called them..they sent you what you wanted..you told them the wrong size, which now they were out of (and they have serious access to merde) and you are mad at them? I'm confused..

Jim A,

Yes. I am upset. When I buy something, I expect it to be brand new, and not tinkered with. I was not going to wait for them to call Nike/Bauer to find out when new solid steel could be sent. That is just poor customer service.

To me, this is like if you bought a new car, and you at the dealership to pick it up, and it has a "donut" on it instead of a "real" tire. Would you stand for that?

In any case, I returned the skates and the "wrong steel" and had to purchase another pair of 8090's in the exact size.

I am giving them one more chance to make things right.

This is funny - I just received a package from HockeyGiant yesterday. When I opened it up it was a pair of little kids Mission hockey gloves - definitely not what I ordered. It had a packing slip for some woman in Illinois in it. So the box had all my info but not my order.

When I called them the phone help was actually pretty good which surprised me. She resent my order right away and also said she'd have Fedex come back and pick up the wrong box. I was dreading that they would expect me to go to Fedex and ship it back to them. She also took the name of the other customer and said she was going to call her right away - which was the right thing to do again.

I know she can't make the knuckleheads in shipping get their act together but at least she minimized the pain to me. Reminds me of a story I read yesterday about customer service - customers tend to be more loyal to a company if they've actually screwed up and made it right versus customers who have never had an issue with a company. Very interesting.

I think in this case I'm kind of torn. Yes she definitely has fixed things but I'm pretty annoyed they have a poor system that lets packages leave the warehouse to the wrong destination.

do you think every shop, even and especially your LHS checks every box to see what's up..I dont doubt that they looked into the box to make sure the stuff was right either and make sure there was a L/R combo..

somewhere along the line from NBH to Giant there was a mixup...their customer service was good..and when it couldn't be resolved (can you find steel locally and have them reimburse you?) you are getting your cash back...wow..an internet madness for all...

every business has an error rate..FedEx has lost packages of mine, DHL has lost considerably more in less time...OPS's break...etc..when you are doing hundreds of thousands a day at a time in sales..there will be the odd order messed up etc..it happens..but you just hope they take care of you on the other end..

i've always had good luck with the site. i like my LHS, but the prices are outrageous when you look online and the item you are looking at is $100-$200 less. the best deal i got from hockeygiant was i ordered an easton typhoon a couple years back, and they sent a Z-bubble grip.

Here is the final outcome. I sent back the skates and new steel (that didn't fit) to HockeyGiant for a credit. They paid for the postage. I then purchased another pair of Bauer 8090 7.5D and they upgraded the shipping for me.

My new ones came in today. Guess what?.....They both have Perforated Steel on them. I know now that they did cannibalize the solid steel off skates as they needed them. In any case. I don't care. At least I have 2 skates with the same steel on them.

I will worry about it when one breaks. What a nightmare this has been, but, I guess it is worth it saving so much money.

yeah but if those blades break especially if there not LS2 blades youll have to pay for the new runners even if you go to a LHS regardless if it is under a year.

They are LS2 steel. I just noticed that one skate is missing the plaster cap that covers the screw for the runner. Is this a big deal? Can it hurt the skate?

Is saving the $ really worth all this bs and aggravation? Jeez, are the f'n laces even the same length? Lengas, I'm not picking on you but for all the bs, wtf?

It isn't costing me anything but time. Maybe you have the $200.00 to cut out all the BS, but, I don't. It must be nice to be wealthy!

Never said I was wealthy. Its just that as you get older you realize that time = money. Sometimes I would rather spend the money than the time. This may not make any sense to you now but when it does remember where you heard it first!

Me personally.. I would rather have working skates WHEN I PAY FOR THEM.. not have to go through a game of "let see if we can put together a complete pair of skates" when I pay my good money for them..

P.S. Time > Money... I just think of all the times I call in sick or skip class because of a nice day.

The missing plastic cap isn't going to hurt anything. Custom skates don't even come with it. Look at it this way with the perf steel, you got $70 blades instead of $45 blades.

yeah like wouldnt you of rather been skating in your 8090s and not gone through all fo this headache and stress which isnt good this day in age. i know its not very relevant but some kid up here passed away from a heart attack at 11, so if you have to spend abit more to keep relaxed and not stressed then id do it
