Nick Boynton

Recommended Posts

Ever since the 2004 Playoffs, Boynton has seemed to have a huge problem with Ribeiro. Tonight he took it too far. Spearing Ribeiro in the stomach, attempting to beat him up, then making throat-slitting gestures to him as he headed off to the dressing room. I hope the league takes a look at this incident, Boynton is a joke.

I'm old school hating Ribeiro, but now it's just fueled by his greasiness and Kovy's creepy man-crush on him.

I watched the game and Ribeiro started the fight, and is lucky the referee didn't let Boynton loose. He had a right to be pissed after getting punched in the face, jumped by Ribeiro, then once ready to fight, grabbed by the linesman and jumped by Bulis. I know he speared him (I haven't seen it), but Ribs obviously wasn't hurt, instigated a fight, then needed someone to jump in and help while the other guy was being held.

Bulis should've been tossed for 3rd man in, Ribs should've been tossed for instigating. It was a crucial point in the game and the Habs got a huge break.

Though I dont agree with everything Boynton did the fact remains that Ribeiro is a gutless puke.

Its my understanding that Ribeiro suffered another phantom injury during this process.

i say montreal gets the 3rd and 4th man in call, and ribeiro gets some sort of suspension for being a gutless puke

ps did i see the name bar "leary" on the back of a B's sweater?

That's "Leahy", penalty killing specialist.

Boynton gave him a little jab, nothing major. Ribiero, in typical Ribiero fashion, acted like he got shot AFTER he punched Boynton in the head. When Boynton saw Ribiero up to his old tricks he decided he had enough of him. He went to confront Ribiero and that is when Begin appeared on top of the pile.

I hope the league takes a look at Ribiero and his flair for the embellishment. Ribiero is the joke, not Boynton.

I thought the linesman was a bit quick to step in... I would have like to seen a couple of shots land first, then have him come to Ribeiro's rescue!

Is Ribeiro liked in the Mtl dressing room? I'm kinda surprised Begin jumped in so quick, too.

I think the linesman just knew no one outside of Kovy_Ribs likes him so he had to step in.

I just can't see how any part of Ribeiro can be liked; he's absolute scum. It's one thing to be an Avery and get under people's nerves and say stupid things, but to be a pussy of Riberio's level? Insane. Maybe the Montreal front office has bonuses for people to save his ass for him. I'd stick my skate in his mussy before I ever stuck up for him.

He reminds me A LOT of Claude Lemeuix when he first broke into Montreal. Claude would flop on the ice all the time to fake an injury. Soon enough the refs caught on and just let him sit there while Montreal played at a disadvantage.

Claude woke up to this and then it stopped.

The only dive I ever remember Ribeiro doing is the big one in the 2004 playoffs, he isn't a frequent diver like Tucker for example. At least not from what I have seen anyways.

He dove last night after the spear, he dove against McCabe the game before that and every game I watch he goes down holding something. He may not lie on the ice for an injury, but he's always grabbing his face, wrist, then skating away like it's fine once he sees an arm in the air.

Wasn't Burns refusing to send out the trainer the "turning point" for this?

I always did like that Pat Burns.

Well, I'm glad that the league looked into this.

Maybe Boynton wanted to get kicked out of the game, he should know that doing a threatening gesture gets you kicked out. He probably realized he was eventually going to be on the ice the same time as Souray or Komisarek.

We had a guy on our team that I called "The TV Timeout."

It was amusing. Every third game he'd be on the ice, staggered, until the refs would finally notice and blow the play dead. They'd help him to the bench and he'd be out for his next shift. In two years, I don't ever remember him missing a shift. He didn't do this to draw penalties -- I think he liked the attention.

Of course, he also was an example that, at 5' 11" and 158#, maybe exercise isn't such a bad thing.... :D

I only do it to draw penalties, and I usually get them.
