Hart Memorial's trophy, most valuable of his team?

Recommended Posts

I was talking about trophy with my friend at school and this was a good conversation.

I was thinking about:

Cristobal Huet for the canadiens.

Maybe ludvigst or Jagr for the NYR.

Or ??Ovechkin?? for Washington?

What your's?

Defentley not Heut, I think Lundquist has been more important to the rangers than Jagr but Jagr will probably get more votes then him, Thorthon wins it if the sharks can sneak into the playoffs. Jagr will most probably win thought. Lidstrom, Ovechkin, Staal are also other strong candites for the award.

I think it should Jagr or Alfredsson. There both on teams with talented players but both of them are the most dangerous and leaders of their teams.

and.....

A player who will get no votes but I think at very least deserves some consideration is Sergi Zubov is Dallas

Huet? your kidding. You habs fans are awesome lol

I'm a diehard Habs fan and even I was shocked by that one. I don't think theres to many MVP's who've played 21games in a season

I love Ovy, but I don't like a player winning the Hart that is not on a playoff team.

Thumbs up for Alfredsson.

I'm no where a fan of the canadiens . my team is colorado! I just think that the canadiens with theodore was going to hit the 7th floor,I thought Playoff was out of possibility for montreal. but with the great performance of huet, he like put this team back on track.

Anybody with me?

Not sure but doesn´t Thornton disqualify for the award since the trade?

No a trade has nothing to do with anything. Although with the Sharks playoff chances lingering thats what will hurt Thornton's chances most.

I think it's going to be either Jagr or Thornton, I'm biased since I'm a Rangers fan but both are extremely valuable to their teams.

Even if the Sharks don't make the playoffs, Thornton shouldn't be counted out as possible MVP. Hell in baseball, Gay-Rod (A-Rod) played on a horrible Rangers team and won the MVP. So anyone can get it even on a bad team.

Well it isnt to often when a player is actually the whole team, but I think its safe to say Ovechkins the closest to that. He's pretty much the single reason the teams won a game or even scored a goal this year. and he is the ONLY reason anyone goes to the games.

Huet is the Habs MVP...but he is not the Hart winner.

My vote goes to Ovechkin. Dominating the way he does...at 20...with a cast of nuthin' supporting him. He is the player that is the most valuable to his team...that's what the Hart is based on.

The problem I have with Huet getting the accolades is the fact Montreal was first place in the confrence during the first 20 games of the year, they've been red hot and ice cold all season long. Right now Huet is on top of the wave, not saying he isn't good, but the teams success isn't based as heavily around him as some may believe.

I really don't know who I'd pick, my favourites would be Ovechkin and Thornton, but really they aren't on playoff teams and won't get it. I have a feeling Jagr and Alfie will be up there, but think Ottawa is just incredibly stacked and would do just as well with Havlat in there instead. Jagr is a decent pick, but I'd be a little concerned about the fall they are having right now.

Huet has 11 wins, he doesn't belong in this discussion in any way, shape or form.

Lundquist

Elias

Forsberg

Lundquist

Elias

Forsberg

Lundquist, strong contender.

Jagr, has to be the early, well actually late season now favorite.

Elias, has not played enough to make his impact that important. He was out, Devs were so-so. He comes back, Devs go on an 11 game tear, he gets hurt, Devs so-so. But the season is 82 games, not an 11 game tear. No way for Elias.

Forsberg, ehhh. Flyers are a strong and can and did win games without him.

Thornton, has to be #2. I mean, he gets traded to a bad and getting worse Shark team, and with him on board they climb to within 3 pts of a playoff spot after being dead and buried in the Pacific early on. Not to mention he's going toe-to-toe with Jags for pts.

To me, and I'm not a sportswriter, but it is adjudged to be the most important player to team. A player a team cannot win, and did not win without. Like I said, Elias hasn't been in the lineup consistently enough to get that, Forsberg's Flyers were still winning when he was out with groin problems, but Thornton, Jags and Lundqvist are indispensable pieces of their team's puzzle. Without them in the lineup, the team has very little chance of consistently winning.

And yes, I'm a Ranger fan :)

Thorton seems to be the definition of the award. He really does make his whole team better. It's amazing.

However, if the sharks don't make the playoffs, then maybe ...

jaromir jagr

marty turco

tomas vokoun

nicklas lidstrom

sergei zubov

I wouldn't be surprised if it goes to a goalie or defenseman this year given all the pro-scoring rules changes.

Everyone expected the Rangers to have marginal goaltending, Lundquist has made it a strength. Not bad considering that none of the Rangers defensemen are really top 1 or 2 guys. Jagr is good but everyone expected him to score a bunch of goals, maybe not as many but it's not that big of a surprise. I could understand and agree with im being chosen.

The devils were not very good before Elias came back. Since he returned they have been on fire. His presence makes a huge difference to that team. He needs to play more to earn it, but a case could be made if he can get in 40 or so games.

Should the Flyers win without Forsberg? Yes. Do they? Not often.

If you aren't #1 it doesn't matter if you're on the list or not. Ovechkin has a strong case and if you go purely by numbers, so do a lot of other people.

Foppa's been in for their recent slide hasn't he? It's hard to think of a team that's really been strong all year long. I'm thinking Detroit, Buffalo, and Carolina, but Staal is really the MVP I can think of from those 3 teams.

As good as Thornton has been individually, right now they are looking up at the playoffs.

Three points out of 8th and five points out of 7th, they aren't looking up very far.

I think Thornton will get a good amount of consideration, as will Jagr. While Huet has been enjoying a nice season, goalies have to do something exceptional to get considered for the Hart. Ovechkin won't garner too much consideration because it is extremely rare for a rookie to get a sniff at MVP. However, I think he should make sure there is a spot for the Calder.

Ovechkin definately. He's an excellent player playing on a lousy team. He leads the team in almost every single category. His point total is already greater than double the number two point getter on the Capitals (Zubrus).
