I am looking at the bauer 4000 at my LHS, they are $79.99. I only have experience with Bauer 1000 (Was all I could afford when I started), so really don't even know why I am posting, apart from to say $50 for 4000 seems like a pretty sweet deal

The Bauer 4000:s are very light and comfy. They also have zippered legs. They might not be that protective though, i would say intermediate level...

Easton pants have always offered above average protection. They fit slightly longer than most other pants so you need to take that into consideration before you decide to get them. Had both the Airs and Synergy 700 and have found them to be great durable and protective pants.

i've got the bauer 6000's. and i have to say they do not protect well at all, i've goten into some weird hip injuries.

i'd gone with the rbk 6k in retrospect

i,ve got the 6000 and got hurt 2-3 time but don't know the word in english maybe we got the same problem.

Can you tell me where is the 'hip'' located please. or if a frenchie could tell me.

the hip, to explain it VERY simply, is right under ur waist (which is where your belt goes)

its located on the side, but on the same level/height as your behind (where your feces come out)

haha

couldnt help myself

so i'm hearing that the bauer 4000/6000 isnt very protective

and since the xx lite doesnt come out for a lil while

its between the S5 and the L5

which one?!?!?!

I would go with the L5. It has good protection, adjustable length, and it cost less then the S5. Plus, the L5 is available now, the S5 is on preorder for most stores.

It's a one piece pad. I find the one piece pads mold to your body with a little use and the two piece require less break in.

What is the consensus on the Bauer 5000? I was looking at the Pro Returns on eastwesthockey.net
