hip check 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2006 I figured it was a waste to throw out any OPS that I broke. I've been converting them into little 'basement' and 'road hockey' sticks for my little guy and his cousins. Here are a couple along with a full-size stick for comparison.I cut off the section that's broken and either insert a woody blade that's cut down to Jr. size (or if it's a CCM I just cut the blade) and dremel it smooth. Add a knob of tape and the kid is good to go with a high tech road hockey stick. Kind of cheesy, I know, but they like them.
McCabe24 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2006 I saw a kid on the weekend with a 110 flex Lidstrom on the weekend, problem was the thing was chopped down to the N in Synergy to allow for a standard blade.
hip check 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2006 I can't imagine there being any benefit to a kid playing ice hockey with something like that. Maybe the dad broke it and the kid wanted to use one??? I can't use 110 flex! These ones I'm 'fixing' are just strictly for road hockey - and the oldest kid is about 7 years old. I've done about 7 or 8 of them now. asdfa 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 a while ago, my friend reffed these twins around like 6 yrs old who bought (or found) a broken zbubble. they chopped it in two right down the middle, put a blade in each end and used it. they tore up house league, scoring 5-10 goals each per game lol. must have been the XXXX-stiff shaft

stickfixchaska 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 When I see this many broken composite sticks, it makes me sad. If you guys want more life out of your broken composite sticks, fix them. There are several different places that can fix them now. SRS (Shaft Repair Service) - I think these guys started out of Michigan. Plug on bottom side of the break, then Epoxy to lock the repair in place. 96hrs before it can be used again. SRS*There are some LHS guys on the boards that use this, they will correct me if I am wrong.*Stick Wizard - In Minnesota...A kit sold to LHS. They fix it for you. Aluminum Insert...(Worst option) They will cut out the break and fuse the stick with the Alu insert. Lose length AND flex is no longer the same. (I don't know any player that likes that option.)Stick Fix - A franchise across Canada and now getting into the States thru MN and ND. I own one of the MN franchises. stickfixchaska 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2006 $75 for a blade, that hefty. Perhaps, but it is much cheaper than replacing the stick.
