velcro tabs vs. traditional garters

i've been using the velcros for a while and it seems like the socks will be a problem first before the velcro. i've had one problem. the velcro actually ripped off the shorts. i had to sew it back myself. and it's been holding pretty well since.

Anybody have any recommendations for a cheap garter with velcros?

Dig deep in the barrel in the locker room, find old smelly garter. It will cost you 4 cents to use pennies to replace the missing tabs which is why it was in the garbage can. Sorry, no velcros. :lol:

I'm thinking about opening a business that sells missing tabs for garters. The only problem is that I'd probably be my own best customer.

Seriously though, if you find detached tabs lying around in the locker room, you gotta snatch that shizz up. Such is the life of the garter-wearer.

Or you could by a Bauer garter. Some of their garters have plastic tethers so that the tabs won't fall off.

Meh I'd just as soon rip the tabs off, throw them on the floor and use pennies right from the start. Why get all uptight about it? You'd loose them all anyways. I just keep a few pennies/dimes in the bag. The dimes double as screwdrivers if my heltmet ever gets rattled big time and I need to tighten er up.

I've had my velcro/compression shorts for 5 years and they still work great. A little fraying on the tabs but that's it. One suggestion keep the garters around for mesh socks...velcro sucks with them.

I'm old school garter belt, and looking pro quality garter belt (hate the tabs, don't want to use the coin method). Gerry Cosby made one without the plastic tabs but they don't even carry their own brand anymore. Checked proshops around the NJ area with no luck. Anyone have suggestions or online dealers that may have something?

I have used the velcro for years now and I am huge fan.

My question is on senior socks. I tend to just grab what the LHS has before a game if I need a new pair. The last pair that I got (CCM - I think), I have to fold over at the top. Why are some so long, and some just right?

I destroy garters lol. I usually go through about 3 belts a season. The guy at my LHS convinced me to go with velcro shorts/jock and I will never go back. I have to RIP my socks off of the velcro after each ice time and I don't have to worry about the tabs falling off or breaking.

i prefer the velcro it's alot more secure and make it less messy in my bag as i often forget to bring several pieces of equipment
