Brands with little to no arch

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I'm thinking about making the transition to ice hockey from inline hockey and I need to find some good entry level skates. One problem I have is that my feet have very little arches and most skates that I have will hurt my feet because of the high arches. Therefore, does anyone know which skate brands have the lowest arches?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I absolutely love my Nike Flexlite 12's. Very wide, little to no arch. I have zero arch and these are quite comfortable on my feet. They are a higher end skate, but the V10 fits similarly and both skates are on closeout so you should be able to find either for a good price.

I've found that most of the skates don't have a lot of arch to begin with. They have the standard insoles which are just flat foam.

I just take them out and add other insoles.

I know the people i know with small foot arches dont find the insole the problem but the find the inside wall of the skate the problem where the inside of the foot curves

I am one of those people. I will agree that the insoles are not the problem but rather how the arch of the actual boot walls are shaped that causes me the most pain.

Speaking of which, can a LHS "punch down" an arch the way they can stretch/punch out other parts of skates to get rid of hot spots?

Right, I think it is the actual boot wall that is the problem. I tried to use Easton inline skates and the arch on the boot wall was that part that was hurting. I tried using different foam soles and that didn't help.

Any other skate recommendations? I am not too sure if the V10 would be the best option for me as I have pretty skinny feet.

Thanks for all of your input!

Well, i'd say medium to low arches will be supported better than high arches.

As for the model, the Vapor XIV would have Intermediate Support. I guess that's what you're looking for?

Vapors and low arches??? No way. Vapor arches are some of the highest among skate lines, no?

I always thought that the Vapors had a very low arch and the 8090s had a higher arch in them.

Nikes might be another option for you.
