CHL/OHL Equipment Deals

tonight i was @ the Guelph Storm Plymouth Whalers game in Guelph..Great game O./t victory for Guelph. Questions though about Equipment details. How is it that RBK and CCM have the official rights to the helmets and whatnot? Also why is it that these players can not choose what they want to wear like NHlers? and why is it that none of them are using Eastons all of them are using Vectors and NBH XXX?

I would have to say that's their the official sponsors of the league.

But stick and skate wise, Im pretty sure the players choose what they wanna play with.

When Jeff Tambellini came to the Isles, Joe Michelletti? was saying that he was using a different stick because as an NHLer he had more of a variety.

CCM/RBK have the ECHL locked up, too. Most of the players wear the 8K helmets, CCM gloves/pants, and have CCM sticks. Seems to me that most of the players wear whatever brand of skate they prefer. Lots of XXX, Grafs, and a few Flexlites. I would think you could technically wear whatever gear you want but don't expect your team to pay for it...

Same endorsement as they have in the ECHL and AHL.

If I recall correctly , CCM signed a gear deal with the whole OHL , last season, I think this requires the jerseys to be CCM but not all the gear. I know that each team has there own sponsor though. Oshawa Generals have Bauer as the main sponsor, this year.

I think the only thing they are able to choose are skates. The sticks can be chosen I believe if you have a higher contract ie: you go between leagues like AHL and NHL.

for my friends Q team, all their equipment is ccm/reebok...helmets, gloves, pants, and protective gear, but they choose whatever for skates, and the team has an easton stick contract, so they use all easton sticks...mainly sl's. i know the halifax team all use reebok sticks, and the cape breton team is sherwood i think.

i think the ccm/reebok deal is just for all the jerseys and protective equipment, and skates are individual, and sticks are team based.

The Central Hockey League has a contract with Sherwood. All sticks, pants, gloves, and shin guards must be sherwood stuff. In fact, a couple of teams have been caught painting up other sticks to look like sherwood resulting in fines.
