Recommended Posts

Has anybody got any idea when these products will be available here in the UK?

Just been looking through the catalogue and the stuff is rather cool.

Can you order from hockey monkey's sweden store? www.hockeymonkeyeu.com

Not that I'm for the super warehouse places, but maybe they can get you what you're looking for.

The hockey monkey eu site is down at the mo.

We are always last here in the UK to get any of the equipment.

The new stuff which is coming out in america/canada will take about 8-12 months to filter through.

Not fair.

True, but you live in England. There's a trade; give and take.

If you really can't wait then use EPuck, I just had a look and they've got the new Fuel skates here, $449.99 for the 110 XP or £260. Granted you have to pay shipping and then import duties, but by the time it all adds up you'll probably end up paying the same when they come to the UK.

Their shipping is really fast too, last time I ordered some stuff it got to me 36 hours after I ordered it!

IMHO it's worth the shipping & taxes

Thanks for the info.

What about the sizing though?

Is mission different to the others?

Im currently in a easton ultra lite pro in 10D

and easton z-air (with clear tuuks fitted) in a 10e

Is there much difference?

Also on hockeymonkeys site there is a note at the bottom saying shipping to the US only.

Why is this? have dealers been told that they cant ship to UK/Europe?

Dealers aren't supposed to ship outside the US but the larger online guys tend to do it anyway.

Do they take a gamble on doing it?

A lot of people who i know tend to order from the US due to the poor service and costings of the products over here.

I just wish suppliers would release equipment over here not long after over there.

I know we are a very small country, but we still take our hockey seriously.

I operate a small business venture sharpening and maintaining skates, and it frustrating that i cant get supplied by our delaers unless ive got a fully operational shop.

Which sizes are those? The Easton ones, US or UK sizes? There's a guide in the back of the Easton catalogue avail on here that compares all the sizes of Easton, USA, European & UK.

A UK size 10 is an Eason 9 / US 10.5

A Easton size 10 is a UK 10.5 / US 11.5

A US size 10 is a UK 9.5 / Easton 8.5

Or so says the Easton pdf!

I'm not sure about Mission sizes, hopefully someone else here knows??

Maybe HockeyMonkey are trying to push their non-US business to HockeyMonkeyEU.com??

Your best bet would be to try on a pair of Mission's in a UK store and see what fits.

As for pricing, $449.99 from Epuck, would equate to:

Skates £265

Shipping £40

Import £70

so in total you'd be looking at around £375! This is only an approx figure but I've used them several times before and have a good idea what all the costs are. Like the other guy mentioned, Epuck are really quick at sending stuff, if you ordered on Wednesday (and Epuck shipped it same day) the stuff would be on your doorstep midday on the Friday!

Not yet had English beer, hope to next summer. My friend's girlfriend who hardly drinks loved it when she was there last year, so you guys are doing something right.

This is going to be round about, but I'm probably best fit in 10.75-D US Bauer (I wear 12-12.5 US shoes) because my foot was a bit cramped and the arch was a little misplaced in my 10.5 Bauer Vapor 8's and trying on Supreme 6000's/2005 Vapor VIII's my heel was slipping out of 11's. I just got new Mission s400's, size 11-D (46 European). That said, someone might be able to compare Easton to Bauer to Mission the roundabout way.

Thats not bad service though, problem is there is not very many stockists of mission skates here in the UK.

The reason im looking at mission skates is because i read that posting of the lad who had a problem with graf and the guy here on MSH helped him out, so i decided to check the gear out.

What are the mission skates like?

Ive sharpened a few, but not took much notice.

Not to keen on the new bauer vapour stuff, as i get a few skates in to be sharpened which are cracked to bits around the top part of the skate.

Be very careful if your ordering Missions over the web without trying a pair on in a LHS my friend. I wear a size 7.5 (42.5 Euro) in CCM or Easton. I tried a pair of Missions and I take an 8.5 in them. I normally wear a size 9 street shoe size. Make sure you match the Euro size up to what you wear now or you'll end up getting them too small. Missions are closer to your actual street shoe size than other brands. They are also a slim fitting skate like Grafs or Bauers so it you have a wide foot order an "E" or "EE". I would suggest if you can find a dealer who carries them in the UK, to take a day trip on a weekend and try on a pair first just to see your getting the right fit. Then order them from whoever carries the best prices.

Regards; A fellow European from the Netherlands living in Canada.

in case this helps, for Mission S series, i wear a 7D (sorry, don't know the euro conversion), but have a 8.5 or 9 street shoe size in normal width.

So, just reinforces that it's important to try them on to be sure on sizing.

Speaking of Missions, where can you get the deal for free stick if you buy Mission skates? Saw it advertised in the USA Hockey magazine.

it was in the ad for hockey1.com, but i'm guessing the offer is directly through Mission rather than the retailer, as it was in 2005.

Mission sizing is very close to actual shoe size. I wear a US 9.5 sneaker. My 1300C's are size 8 and my XP 110's are size 9. I like my skates very tight and the Fuels are perfect right out of the box. I have been looking into setting up an online shop but that is another story.

If you really want the new skates, try EBay US and ask the seller if he minds shipping to the UK. Most of them, like myself, will gladly ship over there. I can get anything to Europe easily at a decent price except for sticks as they do not like the length. Also ask the seller if they have a problem filling out the customs form to say that it is a gift with a value of under $100. Or you can also fill out as used equipment with a value under $100. It will go straight through customs everytime.
